A General Motors Co. board meeting will take place in a few days to decide whether to eliminate the Saab brand or to continue with attempts to sell it. There isn't any dearth of interested buyers though. In fact, spokeswoman Gunilla Gustavs has confirmed that a total of 27 parties want to be the owner of the Swedish auto brand. She said that GM has been in close contact with several potential buyers but she declined to elaborate on their identities and on how many companies it had approached after a potential sale to Koenigsegg Group AB fell through. Last Tuesday, the Koenigsegg Group, a consortium of private investors including super car maker Koenigsegg Automotive AB, withdrew from a deal with GM to buy Saab. The group's stated reason was the length of time it was taking to finalize the agreement as well as the delays in getting European Investment Bank loans and loan guarantees.
