Upcoming Audi R1 and Vw BlueSport to share the same platform

Vw BlueSport Concept

After showcasing at the NAIAS, the BlueSport Concept of VW went directly to the press attention. The concept is a global car, similar to the price of a Mazda MX-5 Miata and essential volume, and is not just for one brand. Reliable information has been received that the Audi version has already been completed. It is branded the R1. The designers of the BlueSport had lots of leeway since this model, unlike other models, does not have a predecessor upon which to base the current design. The concept car has been proportionately worked out and could most likely end up the same way in its production version just like the TT.

The car was intended as a 4-cylinder drive. Since a V6 drivetrain would require heavier chassis components and bakes, it is out of the question. Fundamentally, the concept has a Golf/Jetta/A3 clean diesel moved to the rear.

It comes with a steel monocoque with closing panels made from aluminum. It will come with a 2.0-liter TFSI turbo engine generating in excess of 200 hp in its production form, but with volume sales the most likely candidate would be the Volkswagen Twincharged 1.4-liter TFSI with 160hp and highly efficient fuel economy. The 2.0 gasoline and diesel engines come with 6-speed transmission while the Twincharger comes with a 7-speed DSG transmission.
