Upcoming Cadillac XTS to share the same platform with Buick LaCrosse
Rumors of a new flagship Cadillac have been circulating for years now. Guesses of what the next-generation flagship sedan would be have ranged from a Zeta-based vehicle sharing Pontiac G8 heritage to the most recent reports of an XTS-badged AWD sedan. The latest reports are saying that the DTS/STS replacement is a go.
Instead of a Zeta-based solution, the new flagship will ride on a modified version of the Epsilon II platform found in the 2010 Buick LaCrosse. GM insiders say that the FWD Epsilon II platform will be made wider and longer and converted to AWD. Cadillac’s strategy of building a lineup of small, medium, and large is suspiciously similar to BMW’s own lineup. A new small Cadillac is expected in 2011. The CTS would be the medium-sized car.
