Vw Mid-size Sedan

A spy photograph of a camouflaged vehicle sheds some light on the size and styling of the mid-sized sedan that Volkswagen is currently developing. According to VW, this model is intended for North American buyers who want a sedan that is larger than a Passat. This model is expected to be priced in the low $20,000 range, where it will rival the Chevrolet Malibu, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. The car in the spy shot, which was taken last weekend out West, seems to be slightly larger than a Camry, with longer front and rear overhangs.VW's new plant in Chattanooga, Tenn., will start producing the car in September 2011. VW has a target of building 150,000 sedans annually for North America. So far, there are no plans for exports. VW revealed that the new sedan will have between 30% and 40% in common with the redesigned 2011 Jetta's components.
