An upgraded variant of the Fiat Grande Punto Abarth SS will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show this coming week. Like its predecessors, the 500 Abarth SS and Grande Punto SS package, the new variant comes equipped with a 16-valve 1.4-liter gasoline turbocharged 4-cylinder generating 180hp (134kW) to provide it a sprint rate of 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 7.5 seconds with a maximum speed of 133mph (215km/h). The spirited small engine comes with a maximum of torque 199lb-ft (270Nm) attained at 3,000rpm. At an rpm higher than 4,000 a special exhaust valve opens to lower backpressure and provide a more sporty audio. The little hatchback comes with cross-drilled brake disks and high performance pads for additional performance improvement. The alloy wheels, measuring 18×7.5 inch alloy are clothes with 215/40 tires for better grip, and a lowering kit that can lower the car by 20mm for a lower roll center and a more belligerent appearance. The car is finished in grey paint and comes with an aggressive aerodynamic treatment and red Abarth highlights. In the interior, the hatch receives the Blue&Me MAP satteliate navigation system, plus telematics by Magneti Marelli. A bespoke set of Sabelt Abarth Racing leather seats helps maintain low weight while being approved for the track. No pricing has been made available as yet.
