U.S. Border Patrol to use Ford’s F-150 SVT Raptor

Making a run for the border will be impossible with Ford's F-150 SVT Raptor hot on your heels.

The Customs and Border Protection division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security recently said that it wanted 10 of these vehicles for its Border Patrol. The F-150 SVT Raptor fits the role perfectly since it was developed in the grueling deserts of Southern California and Northern Mexico, the Boarder Patrol's home turf. It has 11.2 inches of gas-shock suspension travel in the front and 13.4 inches out back.

The agency will have none of the fancy leather and synced up cockpits seen in the consumer models. Instead, it will have bare bones work interiors, which only serve to make the Raptor more functional and intimidating. It's still unknown whether the choice between the 5.4-liter Triton V8 or the much more powerful all-new 6.2-liter V8 has been made.
