The federal government of the United States has commenced an investigation into alleged inaccurate fuel level readings in 2003-2004 Infiniti M45s. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration received 43 complaints of faulty fuel readings, which have resulted in engine stall. The cars’ gauge allegedly showed that the fuel tank is still filled when it is empty. NHTSA said the complaints shows an “increasing trend, with most received within the past year." There are no reported injuries or fatalities related to the probe. Infiniti confirmed the probe and verified plans to address issues arising from it. The probe, which affects 8,100 units, could lead to a recall.
