Uwe Gemballa found dead in South Africa

Uwe Gemballa

Some bad news appeared today on the internet regarding Uwe Gemballa, the founder of the well-known Gemballa tuning company specialized in Porsche cars (but also Ferrari and other fast supercars). According to the German newspaper Stern, it appears that Uwe Gemball was found dead in South Africa.Apparently, his death involves Czech fugitive and South African organized crime boss, Radovan Krejcir. Uwe Gemballa and Krejcir wanted to import cars in South Africa according to a former business partner of the German tuning company, Juan Meyer. Meyer said that Gemballa delivered a customized Porsche to Krejcir, but the Czech fugitive didn’t pay him he car.

Apparently, this deal was the last for Gemballa. Furthermore, Gemballa was found shot in the head execution-style, and his body was found in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, on Tuesday. According to the South African newspaper IOL, a day after arriving in South Africa, Gemballa called his wife, Christiane, saying that he was involved in a small accidend and needed her to transfer R9.4 million or about $707,000 at the current exchange rates.

His wife new that something was wrong because Gemballa spoke in English, a language that they never use to speak to each other. Regarding the body found, South African police said that the dentition comparison confirmed the fact that it was Uwe Gemballa. What can we say… we are said to hear this, we liked what Gemballa was doing to Porsche cars, but this is something we can’t handle. R.I.P. Uwe Gemballa! [source: Autoblog via Stern]
