Vauxhall Special Vehicles, ACPO ITS attend Norwegian Police Conference

Vauxhall Special Vehicles joins the Association of Chief Police Officers Intelligent Transport Systems (ACPO ITS) in attending the Norwegian Police Conference in Oslo last month to exhibit the Single Vehicle Architecture utilized in its Insignia and Astra models. The demonstration to Police forces in Norway comes after successful presentations to the French Police at the British Embassy and at Milipol in Paris last year.

Among those attending the Norwegian Police Conference were 250 Government, Police and Procurement staff. Jane Owen, the British Ambassador to Norway, also attended the conference and met with Vauxhall Special Vehicles to talk about how the British technology is supporting the Police in fighting crimes.

The Norwegian Police were awed with the Single Vehicle Architecture technology and its application in the Insignia and Astra models. Vauxhall Special Vehicles has also been invited to demonstrate the vehicles to an audience of fleet managers in March 2012. Moreover, the Danish Police was given a demonstration of the Police automobiles.

Vauxhall is a member of the One Box Consortium working with ACPO ITS, which offers a standardized specification to which all suppliers and manufacturers can adhere, letting them produce common wiring for connection points and equipment. This enables plug-and-play electronics, lowering the time needed for decommissioning and equipping automobiles.
