Translogic said that Vermot AG, the small sportscar manufacturer, will add a hybrid version of its retro single-seater dubbed Veritas RS III Roadster before it goes full-electric. It is claimed that this hybrid speedster can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in only 3.1 seconds. Vermot had installed a 105 kilowatt electric motor and when paired with the Veritas already has, its performance becomes even more impressive. The standard RSIII has a 507hp BMW-built V10 engine.
The downside is that the lithium ion battery pack and electric motor increases the car’s weight by 500 pounds or 226 kg, resulting to a curb weight of 2,821 pounds (1,280 kg). Still, the Veritas RS III Roadster Hybrid is slightly faster in getting to 62 mph (100 km/h) than the standard car it is based on.
It also is able to achieve a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h). Because of a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), power is recovered when stepping on the brake pedal. The electric motor sends power to the front wheels, making this roadster an all-wheel drive car. The hybrid can cover about 31 miles purely on electric power -- but only at city speeds.
