2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost

Official pictures of Rolls-Royce's brand new saloon, the Ghost, has just been released. The model was first heard about in 2006 during a Paris show and is described to be a smaller and more affordable Rolls-Royce. Well, it is still considered a bigger car at 5.5m long and at almost €213,000 in Europe and $245,000, its affordability is debatable.

Nevertheless, Rolls-Royce has big hopes for the car as it expects annual output to roughly double from around 1,000 to 2,000 units per year. Rolls-Royce aims for 80% of the Ghosts's buyers to be new to the brand. An overhauled version of the current BMW 7-series platform lies underneath the new car. Instead of the aluminum spaceframe construction of the Phantom, the Ghost has a steel monocoque skeleton. Since a steel frame takes up less space within the outer skin of the car than extruded aluminum, the carmaker claims that in many ways, it provides just as much cabin space as the bigger car.
