The Range Rover Evoque scored very high when it comes to safety, with an overall rating of five stars. It scored 86% protection for adult occupants, 75% for child occupants, 41% for pedestrians, and 86% for safety assist. In a frontal impact, the safety cell kept its shape well. However, the front passenger’s airbag couldn’t prevent the head from hitting the dash because it didn’t have enough pressure.
The dummy still gave a good reading but points were lost due to this. The driver’s lower areas and the bodies of the front passengers were protected well but there was only marginal protection for the driver’s chest. When it comes to the side impact, the Evoque got the highest number of points. Abdomen protection was adequate during the more difficult pole test.
However, the other parts of the body had good protection. In a rear-end crash, the seat and the head restraint provided marginal protection against whiplash injuries. It offered very good protection to a child occupant but it lost some points for not giving the driver enough information about it. When it came to the pedestrian impact test, just the bumper got the maximum number of points. However, the front edge of the bonnet gave poor protection in all areas. The rest of the bonnet had poor protection in the areas where a pedestrian’s head will probably hit.
