Fiat Group Automobiles UK Ltd. has released the pricing for its Panda unit, which will be available for sale in the UK at the end of February. A base Panda has an on-the-road price of £8900, while a top-of-the-range version carries an OTR tag of £12,250. This pricing provides an outstanding value for money and places the Panda as one of its benchmark competitors. Panda buyers could choose from three engine choices: 69bhp 1.2-litre petrol, 85bhp 0.9-litre TwinAir, and 75bhp 1.3-litre MultiJet 2 turbodiesel. All engines boast of low-fuel consumption and low emission, and carry Euro 5 specifications. The Fiat Panda is also available in three different trim options: Pop, Easy and Lounge.
The entry level Pop trim is fitted with standard equipment that includes electric windows, central locking, Dualdrive electric power steering, four airbags and body color bumpers. A buyer may opt to add other features like ESP, roof rails and black pastel paint. The Easy trim version, meanwhile, will have additional features: remote central locking, air conditioning, roof rails and a higher grade audio system. The Lounge version will be added with heated electric mirrors, 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, body colored mirrors and door handles, and side mouldings.
All versions have safety features like six airbags, double seatbelt pretensioners, an active anti-whiplash head restraint system, and optional ESP. For the first time, the Fiat Panda is installed with the Low Speed Collision Mitigation system, which could automatically activate emergency braking at speeds less than 30km/h. The system utilizes a laser sensor on the windscreen to scan a space a short distance in front of the Panda to determine the risk of a collision. Fiat has sold over six million examples of the Panda, and hopes this popularity would extend to the actual, yet larger and more sophisticated version.
