Volkswagen adds Highline model to Passat and Passat Estate ranges

2013 Vw Passat Highline

Volkswagen has added a new model – the Highline – to the Passat and Passat Estate ranges. This is the replacement for the top-selling SE model. The Highline builds on the impressive features of the Passat SE. It will be adding an RNS 315 touchscreen satellite navigation unit, front and rear parking sensors, 2Zone climate control and stylish 17-inch ‘Sao Paolo’ alloy wheels. When these individual elements are added up, they amount to £1,680 but the Passat Highline is only priced £500 higher than the SE. Prices begin at £20,970 (RRP OTR) for the 1.4-litre TSI 122 PS. The standard Passat and Passat Estate models are available with various options so that driving can be more comfortable and safer. It comes with a Driver Alert System that checks for signs of fatigue.

It also has DAB digital radio and Bluetooth. Furthermore, the Passat Highline gets cruise control, a flat tire indicator, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and a six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support. The RNS 315 touchscreen satellite navigation system, which was previously an option that cost £750, comes with a full-colour screen and traffic monitoring. Just like all media systems used in the Passat, it will also get a multi-device interface, to enable the connection of MP3 players and iPods.

Those who like wireless connections will like its built-in Bluetooth music streaming facility. It has front and rear parking sensors, which were previously offered as options that cost £430, serve to guide the driver both audibly and visually (through the screen of the RNS 315). Meanwhile, Volkswagen’s Park Assist system, which enables the Passat to park itself in spaces parallel or perpendicular to the road, is now offered as a £195 option. The temperature on each side of the cabin can be controlled by half-degree increments via a 2Zone climate control system (which costs £500). The driver and front seat passenger only have to choose the temperatures and automatically, the system controls the heating, air conditioning and air flow.
