Nowadays, we´ve come to expect design studies to be presented in various computer or manually drawn car concepts, created by amateur designers and linked to top automotive manufacturers as mere proposals. But this one here is a real model made by the winners of the Talento Volkswagen Design 2008, four Volkswagen Brazil interns, namely: Kaura Martins, Rogario Okabe, Guilherme Motta and Wadson Gomes Amorim. Supervised by Oscar Mendoza and Marilia Biill, the team had a goal to create a Toyota IQ/Smart Fortwo -sized car which could accommodate two passengers and luggage, offering the same level of comfort as the VW Fox. This model was developed thorough 2009, measures 2.48 m in length (97.6 inches) and was showcased last December during a special event in Brazil. This group also created powertrain proposals for the minicar, including VW's current 1.0 liter unit and various layouts of two-cylinder engines (V-displaced, inline and boxer). They plan to place these at the rear of the vehicle. The team actually is already considering the possibility of a plug-in electric version, which features four electric motors placed in the wheels.
