Volkswagen produces the one millionth vehicle of the T5 series

For Volkswagen T5 enthusiasts, this is one event they´ve always seen coming: the production of the one millionth VW T5, a Volkswagen Transporter Van in Tornado Red, with a 1.9-liter TDI engine (62 kW of power). The milestone was marked on June 30 at its Hanover, Germany plant. VW Commercial Vehicles CEO Stephen Schaller said, "One million T5s - that means one million customers towards whom we have a particular responsibility". The T5 has been number one in its segment for new registrations in Europe and Germany, production of which began in March 2003. Among its many awards are the 2003 Van and Transporter of the Year Awards and 2004 International Van of the Year. With each variable configuration and engine, the company said that there are more than 460 T5 model possibilities. Over 1.7 million T4s were made so T5s still have a long way to go just to catch up.
