Because of the risk of its rear wheels locking, Volkswagen AG is recalling nearly 200,000 units of its new-generation Gol and Voyage models built in Brazil for the local market. The recall is issued over complaints on insufficient grease in rear wheel bearings. As a result, the rear wheels could lock if used continuously. VW said that in rare cases, an accident could be caused by the wheel working loose. Vehicles made after July 2009 are not affected. To give readers a background, the Gol is the top-selling car in Brazil, which is VW's third-largest market after China and Germany. In 2009, VW group sold 688,300 cars in Brazil, an 8.7% increase from 2008.
