Volkswagen to decide if will buy Karmann within two weeks

The fate of troubled assembly firm Karmann will be known within the next two weeks. Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn confirmed that negotiations are still ongoing but he said that he won´t give out details of the looming deal since he didn´t want to jeopardize it. Karmann is a coachbuilder and convertible roof-top specialist that's famous for having built the VW Beetle-based coupe dubbed the Karmann Ghia. If Karmann doesn´t receive any fresh funds soon, it will close in early November. At the sidelines of an event in Garbsen, Germany, Winterkorn told reporters that VW is interested in preserving jobs.
