It appears that the 2011 Geneva Motor Show will be very important for the Volkswagen Group as the German car manufacturer will unveil up to seven new concepts. According to our sources, this move is part of Volkswagen’s plan to overtake Toyota and become world’s largest car manufacturer by 2018. For those who don’t know, Volkswagen’s design boss Walter de’ Silva said that the concepts which will be unveiled at Geneva will be will include models for the Seat, Skoda and VW brands.

The big surprise is that De’ Silva said that Audi will also unveil one, or two models. Moreover, Italdesign Giugiaro, the well-known design company which VW Group took over last spring, will also unveil a concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

As you may know already, concept cars are usually not built due to financial constraints, but it appears that Volkswagen approved an impressive investment budget of 51.6 billion euros (almost $71 billion) from 2011 to 2015 for vehicle development and to boost production capacity at its plants.
