Volkswagen announced today that it recruited Giovanni Perosino, former Fiat executive, to help oversee the marketing strategy of its growing number of brands. If you don’t know this already, we will remind you: Volkswagen wants to overtake Toyota as the world's No. 1 automaker. Volkswagen is also planning to buy Porsche and add it to its stable of nine brands that range from the Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Audi luxury marques to Vw, Skoda and Seat, as well as Scania trucks brand.
Giovanni Perosino will take the newly created role of group marketing communications head, which means he will have the same function he had at Fiat where he also acted as Chrysler Group marketing communication advisor.
Perosino will also rejoin Luca de Meo, a.k.a. his former mentor at Fiat. Both of them worked together in Turin while De Meo was CEO of Fiat brand, Alfa Romeo and Lancia.
“We are driving Volkswagen’s successful growth further forward with the systematic coordination of marketing communications at Group level,” Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, emphasized.
