Volvo C30, S40 and V50 DRIVe receive some R-Design ‘attention’

Volvo DRIVe R-DesignMediocrity and green doesn’t have to be together always. But with R-Design, the Volvo C30, S40 and V50 DRIVe can be styled just as dramatically and completely like other model versions.

This is in response to significant demand for vehicles that merge good eco features with thrilling design elements. The continuous optimization of the drivelines of the cars has made this development possible. All the models satisfactorily pass the 120g CO2/km limit (which is 119g for all three models) even without the preceding external revisions intended to lower air drag, including unique body and underbody panels and air spoilers. The company claims reduce fuel consumption and CO2 levels for the DRIVe models by a margin that was more than they expected. The reduction margins enabled them to provide the cars with the R-Design kit and still pass the emissions requirements. Special DRIVe wind deflectors and an extra R-Design logo at the front, while a DRIVe logo declares the low emissions level at the rear.

The chassis has been lowered by 10mm and the result lower ground clearance has reduced fuel consumption while chassis setting produces more direct road feel and more responsive handling. Only the very best environmental models in their class can come with the Volvo’s DRIVe logo. Conventional diesel powerplant and optimized manual gearboxes for low fuel consumption are installed in all DRIVe models today.
