Volvo developing new safety systems for its electric cars

Volvo is coming up with new ways to improve the safety in its electric cars by taking into account the situations that are unique to this type of car. These safety systems will be incorporated in the new cars produced by Volvo. For instance, Volvo seeks to reduce the effects of a collision. To do that, the battery is well-protected in the rear of the car between the wheel housings, separated from the car's crumple zones. The active system DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control) allows the driver to handle dangerous situations well. The cars are equipped with a service cut-out to quickly and safely disconnect the car's power supply. Volvo Cars safety expert, Thomas Broberg, said that Volvo is taking a holistic approach and looks at real-life traffic conditions as a starting point.
