She figured that it would be a good idea for a dealer to have it and so she placed her bid. Bidding started on December 7.
The first offer was for $20 and a total of 17 people participated. Volvo reported that 11,300 people visited the site to watch the auction while 5,800 found their way to the auction via other websites. Just a few minutes before the auction closed, Volvo De Quebec made the final bid for 3,050 dollars (about 23,000 Swedish kronor or 2135 euros).
Eric Gazin, President of Auction Cause, the company organizing the auction on behalf of the Volvo Car Corporation, said that his group is “thrilled that the Volvo Blind Preview art piece sold as well as it did.” He stated that he owes its success to the uniqueness of the piece and the fact that the World Blind Union is the beneficiary.
