Volvo S60 Polestar

After an official teaser, Volvo revealed a new performance concept car based on the S60 sedan. Dubbed S60 Polestar, the new Volvo wants to take on the big boys such as the Bmw M3, Lexus IS F or the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. If the mentioned rivals are powered by big V8 engines, the Swedish sporty sedan carries a 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six engine developing an impressive 508 hp and 575 Nm of torque (424 pound-feet torque). In order to obtain all these numbers, Volvo engineers had to upgrade the engine with new cylinder head, combustion chambers, inlet manifold and intake but also with custom connecting rods and a new 3.5-inch stainless-steel exhaust system.

The new engine is bolted to a six-speed manual transmission. Due to the increased power, the Volvo S60 Polestar received a Haldex all-wheel drive system, new 19-inch alloy wheels which hide the Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers and 380 mm ventilated discs on the front and 302 mm at the rear. In terms of performance, the Volvo S60 Polestar is able to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 186 mph or 300 km/h.

The Volvo S60 Polestar has a total weight of 1640 kg and optimized weight distribution. Regarding the design, the S60 Polestar features revised front and rear bumpers, new side sills but also a customized interior with newly designed seats with increased support, Alcantara on all functional areas (steering wheel, gear knob and seats) and a centre console lowered for optimized gear-lever ergonomics. Finally, the body of the S60 Polestar was lowered by 20 mm for better stability. The car you see in the photos was built for a specific client and according to the manufacturer there will be more if the market wants it.
