Volvo to release micro-hybrid vehicle by 2011
The unit for product development of Volvo is still working very hard, even as Ford has placed a price on the brand. In an attempt to design more eco-friendly conveyances able to meet the upcoming strict emissions regulations, the Swedish car manufacturer has been laboring on a few new highly cost-effective vehicles.
On top of the DRIVe threesome of ultra-cost-effective diesel-propelled versions, Volvo is also laboring on an all-new micro-hybrid variant. Scheduled to enter the range in 2011, the vehicle will be offered with an option between gasoline or diesel engine, and a transmission that is either manual or automatic. Fuel-efficient technology will consist of a start-stop system together wtih brake-energy regeneration to reduce fuel usage by almost 5 percent. By 2012 there will be a full hybrid available with the capacity to function only on electric power, with the D5 diesel engine. Photo gallery after the jump!
