Barneys is making available for sale a special set of Volkswagen Beetle cufflinks, designed by artistic director Simon Doonan, as part of Barneys New York's 1960s Peace & Love "Hippie Holiday" theme. The cufflinks, created on behalf of a holiday joint venture between Barneys and Volkswagen by the Caroline Collection, are based on the legendary 1967 Beetle. The fanciful antique-rendered cufflinks are created from sterling silver and enamel in an assortment of colors and will sell at retail for $550.00 a pair. "We only picked the cheery, upbeat aspects of the '60s! No overdoses or assassinations," Doonan noted concerning comments of his hippie theme adaptation.
