Honda to display 1st New Earth Dreams engine at Geneva Motor Show

Honda will display the first sample of its innovative Earth Dreams Technology at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The 1.6-liter diesel is the first in a new series of engines being introduced in the next three years. The engine will be displayed with the EV-STER, NSX Concept and a prototype of the European C. The company's Earth Dreams Technology is a new generation engine series providing remarkable performance and environmental values. It is due to be launched throughout the automaker's product range, bringing the company Honda to the number one spot in terms of fuel economy within three years.
This new 1.6 liter diesel will be the first one from the series and will be launched on the new Civic in late 2012. It will be the lightest engine in its class, providing sub 100g/km carbon dioxide levels and a class-leading balance of performance and fuel economy. A cut engine display of the new engine will be showcased on the Honda stand. The striking NSX Concept will make its European launch at the Geneva Motor Show badged 'Honda'. Emphasizing the technology and design direction for Honda's next-generation supercar, the NSX Concept boasts of a V6 mid-mounted engine. It will feature a variety of new technologies such as the ground-breaking Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive™) hybrid system. Sale of the engine is set to start within the next three years.
Honda's European CR-V Prototype is a preview model underlining the exterior styling direction of the all-new fourth-generation European Honda CR-V. The vehicle is set to go on sale in Autumn 2012. Compared to its predecessors, the model adopts a more aggressive bearing with a bolder front fascia and a deeper sculpting of the body lines. The lower front bumper design now combines more seamlessly into the fascia for enhanced aerodynamics. Meanwhile, the lower front bumper wraps smartly upward to convey SUV capability.
Also in display, and for the first time, are two new Jazz derivatives. The Jazz Si has an enhanced sporty suspension package as well as styling changes inside and outside. It is set for sale from Summer 2012. On the other hand, the Jazz 1.2 with Idle Stop provides a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of 3g/km versus the regular 1.2 version. Those who are interested in this derivative can place their order beginning in Spring. In addition, the Honda EV-STER will make its European launch at the show, further emphasizing the automaker's goal of creating exciting, sporty products. This electric rear wheel drive open sports vehicle seats two people. It boasts of innovative and dynamic styling and a remarkable environmental performance.
