Vw Polo BlueMotion Concept drops in Geneva

The Geneva Motor Show will be used by VW as a platform to showcase its Polo BlueMotion concept car which shows what can be expected with it makes the most fuel-efficient Polo ever available next year. Power under the hood is provided by a 3-cylinder direct-injection 1.2-liter TDI unit that can generate 55kW (75PS) and comes with a CO2 emission rating of only 87g/km. The powerplant's small footprint and a skew of fuel-saving technologies, the concept claims a highly economical fuel usage of only 3.3 liters/100km (71.3mpg) which makes it the world's most economical vehicle.
Such remarkable rating is gained by making the Polo BlueMotion lightweight (at only 1,080 kilograms) while still coming with all the latest gas-saving equipment. The concept model is equipped with the start-stop system together with regenerative braking which lowers alternator-related engine load demands.
Also featured in the concept is a special exterior which has been particularly tuned for enhanced aerodynamics and minimized drag coefficient. It has also received a 10mm ride height reduction, a revised front face, an underbody that has received an aerodynamic optimization, and low rolling resistance tires wrapped around 15-inch alloy rims. The current Polo BlueMotion is already averaging 3.8 liters/100km and it is safe to predict that the concept will see the light of production when the next-gen Polo is opened next year.
