Vw Scirocco R20T to replace the Scirocco R32

Only time will tell when Volkswagen starts providing a hotter, harder model of the new Scirocco, and according to CAR, the top of the range three-door will be equipped with the same 265-hp, 2.0-liter turbo as the Audi S3. The Vw Scirocco R20T will be greatly influenced by the Scirocco GT24 racer that competed at the Nurburgring early this year, but not including the vented hood, enormous rear wing and tougher front splitter. The acceleration to 60 is attained in less than six seconds and a ceiling speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) is almost guaranteed. Firmer seats and a stiffer ride that takes advantage of V-Dub's active suspension system are to be expected as part of the package, and sales are anticipated to commence abroad in January for about £25,000 ($38,330 or €29,775). An R32 version equipped with the VR6 is probably off the drawing board due to emissions and fuel economy issues, and if Vw is actually taking into account bringing the Scirocco to the U.S., the R20T would be the ideal model to distance itself from the likewise capable GTI.
