Vw Up! Five-Door

The order books are now open for the new five-door Volkswagen up!, priced at only £365 higher than the equivalent three-door model. Volkswagen’s much-awarded city car features wide-opening rear doors and is priced from £8,360. The five-door up! is equipped with the same qualities as its three-door variant. Its wheelbase measures 2.42 m long, resulting to a remarkable interior space even when it has a small and a vehicle length of 3.54 m, making it easier to park. It also has a large 251-litre boot, a frugal three-cylinder engine, infotainment system, and safety features that are new to the class.

The five-door up! benefits the rear passengers as it has exactly the same space offered in the three-door model, with a headroom of 947 mm of headroom (compared to 993 mm in the front). It also has 789 mm of legroom. The rear seat base is positioned a little higher in the front at 378 mm (compared to 306 mm), giving passengers a clearer view of the road at the front. The five-door range is comparable to that of the three-door.

The available models include Take up!, Move up! and High up! models as well as the special edition up! Black and up! White. It’s predicted that five-door models will account for half of all up! sales. Just like the three-door, there will be two BlueMotion Technology versions available. They avoid VED since their CO2 emissions are lower than 100 g/km. The 60 PS Move up! BlueMotion Technology offers 68.9 mpg on the combined cycle while it has CO2 emissions of only 95 g/km while the 75 PS High up! BlueMotion Technology delivers 67.3 mpg and 98 g/km. The range will be joined by a fully electric version in late 2013 while an automated manual gearbox is offered as an option later this year.
