Vw updates its Phaeton range

Volkswagen has provided the Phaeton a gentle refresh. The slow-selling luxury saloon gets a fresh front grille and alloy designs, and additional new metallic paint shades. The inside has a modified center console with an updated instrument cluster and a new touch screen satnav system. Volkswagen has also cut the series to only two models: the 3.0-liter V6 TDI and the top of the range 6.0 W12. Sticker prices have increased slightly, the 3.0-litre V6 TDI now sells for £44,235 ($69,000 or €54,100) and the W12 listing for £75,395 ($117,625 or €92,171). Both the 3.2-litre V6 and the 4.2-litre V8 have been silently discontinued. It did not come as a surprise though, since the 4.2 Phaeton LWB lost more than half of its list price in the first year and only three had been sold in the UK since January. Compared with the W12, it is still better. According to the SMMT, only one Phaeton W12 has been registered in the UK in 2008.
