Vw’s next roadster to debut in January at Detroit Auto Show

Vw Concept RVolkswagen is allegedly working on a reasonably priced mid-engine sports car which it plans to make public sometime early in the next decade. A concept model of the vehicle was initially scheduled for debut at this month‚ Los Angeles Auto Show, however a company insider has lately revealed that the concept‚ released has been delayed to the Detroit Auto Show in January of 2009. The insider also informed Automotive News Europe that VW plans to open the production version in 2011 as a halo version for the brand, and that it would be on top of an improved version of the Audi R8 platform. This newest morsel of information contradicts prior reports that implied that the new version would be positioned as a less expensive roadster designed in the level of the Toyota MR2 and Porsche Boxster.
