Willi Reiss will head Daimler’s Sindelfingen car assembly plant

On Jan. 1, Willi Reiss will start to head Daimler AG’s biggest car assembly plant in Sindelfingen, near Stuttgart. Reiss, a veteran Daimler executive, will succeed Eberhard Haller who is retiring after nearly 30 years with the company. It was in 1987 that Reiss started his career in Sindelfingen. He first joined the cost planning department, before leading body shop operations in 2006. Reiss has considerable experience in many areas of production and he has acquired a broad knowledge of the whole value chain of automotive manufacturing.
For seven years, Haller was the boss of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen. Daimler released a statement, indicating that the Haller’s management had further strengthened the plant as a center of competence for Mercedes-Benz's vehicles in the luxury segment.
Daimler singled out Haller’s successful integration of new products such as the Mercedes-Benz CLS and SLS AMG during his management. As further proof of Haller’s prowess, J.D. Power honored the plant in 2008 and 2010 for excellence in quality. And in 2009, quality management for the C class in Sindelfingen was named “Factory of the Year.”
