Sebastian Loeb himself put rumors to rest about his retirement and confirmed that the 2011 season of the World Rally Championship will be his last. In a recent interview with French magazine Paris-Match, Loeb denied speculation that he will quit at the end of 2010 but that there’s nothing that would change his decision in leaving after 2011.Loeb, who is only 36 years old, is currently a 6-time world champion of the premier rallying series
Recently, he inked a one-year extension to his deal with Citroen. It wouldn’t be hard to conclude that it’s the lack of motivation that made him want to leave.
In recent years, Loeb has been largely uncontested except by his own records. So far in Loeb’s career, he has had 59 wins and received 6 world titles. Loeb had said that he has “taken enough risks” and isn’t prepared to take on more. He explained that what motivates him now is the “pleasure (of the sport).”
