World’s fastest man will drive the Insignia VXR at Goodwood

World Land Speed Record holder, Andy Green, will be steering the 325 hp Insignia VXR (OPC) during Goodwood‚ hillclimb course this weekend. General Motors‚Äô Vauxhall division, which made the announcement, further stated that Green had been a British Royal Air Force pilot, the first and so far, the only person, to break the sound barrier on land.
In 1997, as Green was behind the wheel of Richard Noble‚ Thrust SuperSonic Car, he recorded a top speed of 763mph or 1,227km/h. Stating the Festival was one of the highlights of his year, Green added ‚ÄúFast road cars are the essence of the Festival and I am really looking forward to giving the Insignia a good run up the Hill this weekend."
