Fiat announces details of Abarth 500 and 595 ranges in the UK

Soon to make their arrival in the UK are two new versions of the sporting hatchback and convertible -- the 595 Turismo and the 595 Competizione. These mark the launch of the new high-performance Abarth 500 and 595 ranges in the market. The brand considers the overhaul of the original and very successful Abarth 500 range to be a milestone.

The two cars will have a 160bhp version of the turbocharged 1.4 T-Jet engine as standard equipment. They will give consumers more choices when it comes to improved standard specifications. The original Abarth 500 will still be the entry-level model. However, its price is lower and the automaker has added a new color and some additional standard equipment.

An esseesse higher performance option will still be offered for the Abarth 500 as part of a dealer upgrade kit. These three new versions will be offered with the manual version. Consumers may also ask for Abarth’s MTA (Manual Transmission Automated) semi-automatic gearbox.

Abarth 500C receives manual transmission and a price tag

The price for the new Abarth 500C convertible sports vehicle with the manual gearbox has been set at £16,856 OTR, which is approximately £1,000 cheaper than the current model with ‘Competizione’ paddle-shift transmission. This vehicle is the latest variant in the well-established Abarth range, which was launched in July 2008 in the United Kingdom.

The brand continues to find new fans from enthusiast drivers who want to express themselves through their choice of vehicle.

To keep to its philosophy of “Making the Ordinary Extraordinary”, Abarth has brought the convertible model and added the option of a five-speed manual transmission for individuals who do not want the “Competizione” box.

Rumor: Abarth Fiat 500 Speedster in the works

Abarth is working on a coupe version of the Fiat 500 that it says will be more exclusive and will be an even more extreme incarnation of the city car. This is a caricature-like impression made by its official artist.

The car, which takes its inspiration from the Zagato Abarth 750 T of 1959, appears to have a shallower glass area, cut-down windscreen and faster rake of the roofline and D-pillars. The car will be available in open and closed forms.

The hard-top version will feature the Zagato-signature double-bubble roof of the original. To feed the 750 T rear-mounted engine, it had huge scoops. We see hints of these from a new, enlarged tail spoiler. These models will be distinguishable due to their bigger wheels and numerous detail changes.
