BMW will start selling the Active Tourer crossover in the United States in early 2015. According to Ian Robertson, BMW AG's board member for sales and marketing, the Active Tourer will share a front-wheel-drive platform and new three- and four-cylinder engines with the next-generation Mini Cooper. The Active Tourer, which is BMW’s first front-wheel-drive crossover, will rival the Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover that will arrive in the US in September 2014.
Robertson remarked that the Active Tourer will be the first of several new fwd vehicles. "You will see BMW push into segments where we haven't been before," Robertson said. He remarked that the Active Tourer will also be available in a longer-wheelbase version with a third row of seats. The new BMW/Mini platform could also underpin all-wheel drive vehicles.
While Robertson did not provide dimensions of the Active Tourer, the show car measures 171 inches in length and 61 inches in height. In comparison, the rear-wheel-drive BMW X1 crossover measures 176.5 inches in length and 70.8 inches in height. Robertson remarked that BMW is seeking to conquest buyers with the new platform.Read the entire article BMW Active Tourer crossover to arrive in the US in 2015
Customers seeking a hardcore version of the Volkswagen T-Roc can finally flash a smile. This comes after the German carmaker unveiled a performance version of the high-riding crossover at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show – the all-new Volkswagen T-Roc R. Sales of the new T-Roc are expected to commence by the end of the year.
The all-new Volkswagen T-Roc R was developed by Volkswagen R, a wholly owned independent subsidiary of VW. The carmaker has been using the letter R – indicating its link to motor sports -- since the Golf R32. Now, the T-Roc R is privilege to have inherited the letter, making it the first crossover since the Touareg R50 to bear the initial.
To indicate the performance potential of the new Volkswagen T-Roc R, it features a specially redesigned radiator grille with a polished silver anodized aluminum band on the underside. The radiator grille also bears the “R” logo while the bumper boasts of a sporty design as finished in the vehicle color. Integrated into the front bumper are vertically arranged daytime running lights,Read the entire article 2019 Geneva Motor Show: Volkswagen T-Roc R is a performance-laden 300-PS crossover
Volkswagen is introducing its smallest sports utility vehicle so far, this further expanding its SUV lineup. With the new and tiny Volkswagen T-Cross, the German carmaker is taking advantage of the continued growing demand for SUVs, whether large or small.
With a styling that makes it appear like a smaller brother of the Volkswagen T-Roc, the new VW T-Cross is underpinned by the A0 version of the VW Group’s MQB platform. This is the same platform that underpins other models in the VW Group such as the VW Polo and Audi A1 as well as the SEAT Ibiza and SEAT Arona crossover.
The compact nature of the new VW T-Cross is wrapped in its small dimensions. It boasts of a length of just 161.8 inches (4.11 meters), making nearly as long as the Nissan Juke small crossover. Inside, the new VW T-Cross can accommodate between 13.6 cubic feet (385 liters) to 16.07 cubic feet (455 liters) of cargo, depending on the position of the rear seats. These rear seats can slide 5.5 inches (14 cm), thereby increasing or reducing the available cargo space. When the rear seats are folded down, the cargo space offered by the VW T-Cross increases to 45.24 cubic feet (1,281 liters). An optional folding front passenger seat can be availed by customers who need more cargo room.Read the entire article New Volkswagen T-Cross is the carmaker’s latest and smallest SUV
BMW M GmbH is getting things all hyped up leading to the impending launch of its BMW X3 M sports activity vehicle and the BMW X4 M sports activity coupe. In an effort to make things more excited and make prospective customers think more about the new X3 M and X4 M, BMW has decided to let the public view their respective prototypes as they tackled the Nurburgring.
BMW’s high performance unit calls the event as the first official presentation of the new BMW X3 M and the BMW X4 M. However, the event can’t be called an official unveiling, the as both M versions of the X3 and X4 were both heavily camouflaged, and BMW M didn’t really provide more details – especially their actual specs – about these new high performance models. Indeed, a presentation is really the most appropriate word to describe the event.
The official presentation of the new BMW X3 M and BMW X4 M, which series development has already been kicked off, took place during the DTM racing weekend at the Nrburgring (September 7 to 9, 2018). During the official presentation, BMW M had prototypes of the BMW X3 M and the BMW X4 M test driven on the circuit. The prototypes have been camouflaged to indicate their nature as pre-series vehicles, which means that nothing is final yet with regards to the development of the X3 M and the X4 M. Their performances are still being tuned, and their first public appearance is just a showcase of what to expect from these two new M vehicles.Read the entire article BMW M officially presents camouflaged X3 M and X4 M at Nurburgring

At the International Electric Vehicle Expo in South Korea, Kia revealed the highly anticipated Kia Niro EV together with the the Niro Plug-In Hybrid and Soul EV. Aside from the reveal of the production version of the pure electric crossover, the automaker also gave us information on this soon to be available electric CUV.
Similar to the Hyundai Kona EV’s offerings, the electric Niro will be offered with two different battery options: a 39.2 kilowatt hour version and a 64 kilowatt hour version. Take note though that only the beefier version will be offered in the United States. According to Kia, the smaller battery will have a range of 149 miles per charge, while the bigger one is claimed to have 236 miles. The similar Hyundai Kona may be a little smaller, but it can go a little further per charge.

For the longest time, the Skoda Yeti was the only crossover model that the automaker offered to the market. However, that particular model did not really live up to its body style because it became known as an eccentric but adorable tall and rugged hatchback. After the Yeti, Skoda decided to offer a much larger seven-passenger Kodiaq that came in the second half of 2016.
This was then followed by the smaller five seat only Karoq in 2017, which was meant to replace the Yeti. In 2018, Skoda finally decided to add the Kamiq into their portfolio. However, the said model will only be exclusively sold in China, unlike its older siblings that were made available all over the world.
Without having to mention this, the city oriented crossover will be positioned just below the Karoq that we mentioned earlier. This also rounds off Skoda’s three model crossover lineup that is being offered in China. When it comes to the design elements, there isn’t much for us to say because it looks pretty similar to the other two “K” models. However, one thing that you would notice is that the headlights have a different layout, and the main ones are significantly larger too.Read the entire article Skoda’s small crossover - the Kamiq - will be exclusive to China
It seems like the Hyundai Tucson will be expanding its range because the automaker is said to give the SUV a new Sport trim that will be equipped with a 2.4 liter four cylinder with 181 horsepower (135 kilowatts) and 175 pound feet (237 Newton metres) of torque that starts at 4,000 rpm, together with a six speed automatic. This powertrain will be available in either a front wheel- or an all wheel-drive layout.
Naturally, the 2.4 liter powerplant will carry out a little more output than the current 1.6 turbocharged four cylinder engine with only 175 horsepower (131 kilowatts) and 195 pound feet (264 Newton metres). This particular engine came with a seven speed dual clutch gearbox.
If you know about the Tucson lineup, the Sport trim is allocated between the SEL trim and the SEL Plus. The Sport trim comes with all of the SEL’s features - from the power driver’s seat, heated front seats, fog lights, and blind spot monitoring. The Sport will be given a set of 19 inch wheels, and will feature things like lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, dual zone automatic climate control, LED approach lights, and a proximity key.Read the entire article 2018 Hyundai Tucson Sport trim gets a 181 HP four cylinder engine
The ever growing compact luxury crossover segment has something new for us again, as Lexus revealed the production ready UX at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Physically, it may not be as flamboyant as its namesake from 2016, but it will definitely still stand out in a crowd of compact crossovers.
Lexus UX has a huge corporate spindle grille that will truly catch one’s attention on the road. It also features full width taillights that make it look unique. In fact, this has been fitted by at least 120 individual LEDs. It sits on a set of either 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels that were specially made for the crossover. This has also been tweaked in the wind tunnel to improve airflow.
The UX isn’t just about its good looks. Instead, it rides on the company’s newest GA-C platform, which makes handling much easier. As for the car’s dimensions, it is 177 inches (about 4.5 metres) long, with a 103.9 inch (2.63 metre) wheelbase. The company also boasts a segment-leading turning circle of 34 feet (10.3 meters).Read the entire article 2019 Lexus UX debuts in Geneva with a new look and platform
The 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric is ready to hit the market with its new look and its zero emissions package. For them to be able to cater to a wider market, the automaker decided that they would offer the Kona with two powertrains, with different outputs, ranges, and prices.
For instance, the base model features an electric motor that offers 133 horsepower (99 kilowatts) and 291 pound feet (395 Newton metres) of torque. This one comes equipped with a small 39.2 kWh battery pack that could offer a maximum range of 300 kilometers (186 miles) in the new Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles test procedure (WLTP). This procedure is supposedly more relevant than the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
Meanwhile, the top of the range Kona Electric was given as much as 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts) but with the same torque as the base model. This comes from the 64 kWh battery, which allows it to drive with a range of up to 470 kilometers (292 miles) as per WLTP.Read the entire article 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric can be driven up to 292 miles per charge
We could sense that Volkswagen has some big plans for the new T-Roc compact SUV. In fact, on February 23, they announced that a cabriolet version is on its way to be produced in 2020. It will essentially be a convertible version of a new SUV that has not been established in the market.
A lot of us were actually surprised at the fact that Volkswagen announced this and the fact that they are coming out with a model that has a non-existent history of open roof crossovers.
Having said that, nothing is stopping the automaker from investing €80 million to bring the drop top T Roc to production. In the United States, that’s more or less $100 million. And this money will go the company’s Osnabrück plant where the convertible crossover will be produced. We have not actually heard of any details regarding the said model, but as you could see, the rendering depicts a two-door version of this folding hardtop.Read the entire article VW plans to produce cabriolet version of the T-Roc compact SUV
Since the Audi SQ5 first came out, Bavarian tuner did nothing but think up different scenarios for this hot crossover. ABT Sportsline has been offering various upgrade packages for the latest generation. The aftermarket tuners are also revising the temporary top dog in the Q5 family with a wide array of upgrades for customers who cannot wait any longer for the Audi Sport to come out with the RS Q5.
When looking at it from the exterior, ABT gave the Audi SQ5 a new and more aggressive body kit that is wider than the original. They say that the SQ5 looks even more dominant in the rearview mirror after this upgrade. In fact, we would say that it is quite a comprehensive package with those wide hips granted by the fender extensions, together with a new front skirt and muscular side skirts that will definitely catch your attention.
Moving on to the rear, the ABT then gave the SQ5 a newly developed exhaust system with real tips covered in carbon that’s now in place of the decorative chrome housings of the standard model. The quad tips then have a pseudo diffuser that helps the crossover send out a sportier vibe that is enhanced by the prominent spoiler that’s attached to the roof.Read the entire article 2018 Audi SQ5 has been lowered by ABT Sportsline to make it look like a hatchback
It is only a little over a month away until the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, where Lexus is reported to unveil the small crossover, UX. And yet, we still have not seen any spy shots of it until now. Back in 2016, it was previewed at the Paris Motor Show by a namesake concept, as a competitor of the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
But whether or not we will see the model in Geneva in a few weeks or not, the UX will be the model to take the place of the CT 200h in the United States, and it will actually stand as the entry level model from Lexus.
The automaker has actually already taken measures to register the UX200, UX250, and UX 250h with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It doesn’t guarantee anything yet but it likely means that there is a good chance it will sooner or later land in U.S. shores. Sales of crossovers and SUVs in this country add up to about 60 percent of the company’s sales. Therefore, adding the small crossover to the lineup just makes more sense.Read the entire article Lexus UX crossover may officially debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March
BMW’s 2 Series Active Tourer finally gets its first ever mid-cycle update, and if we could describe the facelift in one word, we would say that it was very “discreet”. This minivan isn’t just the first for BMW, but it also marks their first attempt to do a front wheel drive too.
Both variants, namely the five seater 2 Series Active Tourer, as well as the seven seat Gran Tourer, will be getting the new paint scheme of Jucaro Beige and Sunset Orange, together with the six new options for alloy wheels that vary in size from 17 to 19 inches.
When looking at it from the outside, the changes are very hard to see, which is why we are going to point them out for you. First, the LED headlights have a more hexagonal shape like the new BMW models, while the rear features light emitting diodes that exhibit different graphics. The kidney grille, single-piece air intake, and LED fog lamps are also new here.Read the entire article 2018 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer gets subtle facelift, now offered with 7-speed, dual-clutch Steptronic gearbox
Infiniti will commence sales of the new 2019 Infiniti QX50 in the spring, with a starting price of $36,550. But before the big launch, Infiniti has introduced a new reservation program that will allow customers to rack up luxurious rewards. But this pre-launch reservation rewards program isn't just about making customers happy, but also about increasing the hype and sales of the new 2019 Infiniti QX50.
Designed to rack up more reservations, the pre-launch reservation rewards program for the 2019 QX50 is divided into three tiers. Once a tier is unlocked by reaching a certain number of reservations, it opens up certain luxury rewards for customers. Unlocking the second tier and the third tier means upgraded luxury gifts for customers.
The first tier unlocks when the luxury carmaker receives more than 4,000 reservations. This was easily reached, and according to Infiniti USA’s Web site, the luxury carmaker has already taken 8,032 reservations (as of this writing). This meant that the second tier of luxury rewards has already been unlocked at 8,000 reservations. For the third tier to be unlocked, the total reservations received by Infiniti for the 2019 QX50 need to reach 12,000.Read the entire article Infiniti introduces 3-tier reservation rewards program, US price for 2019 QX50
Chinese brand Byton officially unveiled the production version of its Byton Concept during the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas. With this, the brand hopes to soon enter the U.S. market.
For those unfamiliar with the company, Byton was launched as a new brand of China-based Future Mobility Corp. last year. Its current CEO is Carsten Breitfeld, who was previously the i vehicle program lead of BMW.
The production version presented during the 2018 CES shows an exterior that has been styled with subtle design cues that give one the impression of being inspired by Land Rover and Nissan. The interior however is a different story. While most standard models have an infotainment and instrument cluster, Byton’s offering instead has a single-pane that goes through the whole length of its dashboard. Mounted on the center of the steering is an 8-inch tablet. Meanwhile, the seats have the ability to rotate as much as 12 degrees inward.Read the entire article Byton shows preview of production EV at 2018 CES
Volkswagen recently launched a teaser video of what they will be launching in the next 12 months. And one of the models they featured was the T-Cross. This confirms that the production version of the model will finally be able to join us later this year as the automaker’s smallest crossover to date.
Here is the thing, the video is merely a brief teaser of each of their upcoming cars and that they did not provide specific details about when or where the T-Cross could make an official debut. However, based on the latest speculations, it might come out sometime earlier in the year. We might actually be able to see it debut at the Geneva Motor Show this March. If you remember, it was back in 2016 that VW first premiered the T-Cross Breeze concept as a preview for their smallest crossover.
However, unlike the concept that we saw two years ago, the production version will not be a droptop. And from the spy shots we saw earlier, the road-going variant has been going through tests in the snow. The vehicle looks like a smaller version of the Tiguan, the automaker’s existing SUV. While it does share the same MQB platform as the polo, it is a shorter version of it.Read the entire article Expect VW T-Cross to arrive in Europe dealerships in 2018 and in the US by 2019
The Audi Q3, also known as the smallest crossover option in the United States, is getting a new upgrade, with an overall sportier look. This is because the automaker will introduce a new Sport trim to the lineup next year. Though it is a “Sport” trim, do not expect it to perform better because the sporty upgrades are only limited to the exterior. Having said that, it focuses more on convenience features and styling.
For those who are interested, the 2018 Audi Q3 Sport Premium can be had for $34,875 (including $975 destination fee). That makes it $1,000 more expensive than the standard Q3. You are probably wondering what upgrades you will get with the additional $1000. Well, this trim includes new exterior treatments like 19-inch 10-spoke wheels and brushed matte aluminum inlays. This goes with a power tailgate, mirrors that automatically dim, and proximity key with the $1,350 Convenience Package equipped.
The higher trim, which is the Sport Premium Plus, on the other hand, costs a little more at $36,775 for 2018. If you will include the optional technology package, that will cost you an extra $1,200. This trim features a Bose audio system and other fancy things. And for those who would like to go for the sporty luxury option, there is the range-topping S Line Competition Package that comes loaded with features as well as blacked out design touches. But naturally, this costs a little more too.Read the entire article 2018 Audi Q3 will receive Competition Package, Sport trim in the United States
Ever since BMW unveiled the first-ever BMW X2 sports activity coupe, the German premium carmaker has already gained the interest of luxury customers in the United States willing to wait until spring 2018 before they could get behind its wheel.
While BMW said that it would announce the pricing of the 2018 X2 near its market launch, order guides gathered by CarsDirect, showed that the sharply styled SAV would have a price that starts at just below $40,000 – or $39,395 including the $995 destination charge. This price applies to base model of this SAV, the 2018 X2 xDrive28i and represents a premium of $2,500 over the X1 xDrive28i at $36,895.
At a few hundred dollars below $40,000, the X2 xDrive28i is powered by the latest generation 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine with a twin-tailpipe design. As part of its new electrification strategy, German carmaker Volkswagen is working to finalize the production version of the Volkswagen I.D. Crozz SUV concept and introduce the new vehicle to the United States in 2020. This goal was further confirmed when the Volkswagen I.D. Crozz – along with the I.D. Buzz concept -- made its North American debut at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Volkswagen first unveiled the I.D. Crozz Concept at the 2017 Auto Shanghai in China. The carmaker then updated the concept and took the wraps off it at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. As revealed, the I.D. Crozz features a size similar to the 2018 Tiguan but with the shape of a four-door coupe. The updated I.D. impresses both masculinity and dynamism thanks to its wide bonnet, cleanly contoured wings as well as a roof with a high-gloss black exterior finish.
Its LED headlights generate an unmistakable light graphic and give the I.D. Crozz its own identity both day and night. The concept features an unusual door layout in which the front doors hinge and the rear ones slide back. The B-pillar has been removed to allow the doors to open wide and make it easier for passengers to access the cabin.Read the entire article VW reaffirms plans to offer I.D.
