During the past few years, many automakers have developed a love-hate relationship towards diesel engines because of strict emission standards. Automakers have built a perception that diesel engines are not clean, and this is why some marques like Volvo and Nissan have decided to completely abandon the fuel type in the next few years.
In contrary to that, there are still other automakers like Mercedes-Benz and Mazda that believe that there still is a future for diesel engined vehicles, mainly because of SUVs. These big cars will need more torque in their power plants without turning a blind eye on fuel consumption.
To add to the list of pro diesel cars, it seems like Alpina will be joining them very soon, the independent performance tuner of BMW. Andreas Bovensiepen, head and son of founder, told Whichcar that he sees the future of diesel powertrains.Read the entire article Alpina joins bandwagon of pro-diesel automakers
A lot of people, especially in Europe, love the diesel engine despite the fact that it is one of the dirtiest things you could also talk about these days. While automakers like BMW are shifting to hybrid and electric vehicles for their upcoming models like the next generation X3, there are some models that still remain to build diesel engine vehicles. For instance, Alpina had just given the diesel powered SUV engine a boost. That is something BMW will definitely not do.
Having said that, this is exactly what the Bavarian tuner did: they tweaked the BMW 3.0 liter straight six engine with two turbochargers and common rail high pressure direct injection of the regular X3 diesel. Overall, this gives an output of 333 horsepower (245 kilowatts) and a torque of 516 pound feet (700 Newton metres).
If these numbers do not sound impressive to you, Alpina wants to boast that in only 4.9 seconds, the XD3 can accelerate to 62 miles per hour from standstill (0-100 kilometers per hour). It achieves a top speed of 158 miles per hour (254 kilometers per hour). In other words, this could be the fastest, diesel powered SUV in the market today.Read the entire article 2018 Alpina XD3 is a BMW X3 with 4 turbos, set to launch at Geneva Motor Show
If you are looking for an awesome car, look no further than the BMW M4. But if you want something more exclusive than that, then you can opt for the Alpina-tuned 4 Series as this will definitely turn heads wherever you go.
Alpina has prepared a kit that isn’t just about the car’s looks as its performance will also be given a boost albeit, not by much. It gets a raise of 9 PS (9 horsepower) and 56 Newton metres (41 pound feet) of torque. The Alpina B4 S Bi Turbo carries out a little more power than the stock M4, thanks to its straight-six 3.0 liter engine. That may not sound a lot, but overall, that totals to an impressive number of 440 PS (434 HP) and 660 Nm (487 pound-feet) of torque in a wide speed range from 5,500 to 6,250 rpm.
For those of you who are interested in this Alpina tuned 4 Series, the white model is on display at BMW Abu Dhabi dealership. The special body kit comes with a custom front splitter, side skirts, and boot lid spoiler. It also has multi-spoke alloys and blue calipers, plus decals from the tuner.Read the entire article Alpina B4 S Bi-turbo is a cooler version than the BMW M4
Customers who think the BMW 4 Series Coupe is rather ordinary are in for a treat especially with what BMW Individual and Alpina have in store. The best example is presently being displayed at BMW Abu Dhabi Motors, a dealer that looks to be getting the best toys to play around with.
Even with one look, the use of Rallye Green paint on the Alpina B4 S makes the body even more aggressive. Combined with the upgrades implemented by those at Buchloe, it is clear that this is not your standard 4 Series Coupe.
On the inside for example, BMW Individual made sure that the interior of the B4 S would be different from the usual 4 Series Coupe. The instrument cluster has blue dials with the steering wheel showing green stitching. This color theme is in fact the same as that on the exterior. While the usual 4 Series Coupe has a left air vent on its center console, the B4 S instead has an extra display. On the lower region of the console is a special plaque that proves this is not the usual car.Read the entire article 2017 Alpina B4 S Rallye Green based on BMW 4-Series Coupe is the height of exclusivity
BMW’s Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe is no doubt one of the most desirable models out there considering that it comes with almost the whole package. From a head-turning exterior design, impressive power, practical features, and an upscale interior. Depending on how you are feeling, it can be sporty when you want it to be, or it can be the most relaxing cruiser to drive you out of the city without breaking a sweat. And since the Alpina has been pretty successful since it first came out in 2014, the company joined forces with BMW again to create this special edition B6 Gran Coupe.
This one-of-a-kind model has been given quite a lengthy name as the “BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe BMW CCA Edition”. This model was especially made for an upcoming raffle that had been organized by the BMW Car Club of America. On the outside, it wears a signature Blue Metallic paint that represents Alpina, matched with a lovely white leather interior with piano black accents all over.
There is more to the four-door grand tourer’s interior. There are a number of silver inscriptions against a high-gloss lacquer finish on the center console too, while the steering wheel is hand-finished and comes with white stitching details to complement the seat upholstery. This is also why the Alpina B6 gets white piping on the floor and a set of trunk mats. To finish off the look, Alpina put B6 embossed logos onto the headrests.Read the entire article Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe BMW CCA Edition was made as a raffle prize
A few weeks after teasing the new 2018 BMW Alpina D5 S high-performance diesel-powered car, Alpina is now letting more information out of the bag. This new creation based on the BMW 5-Series that’s tagged as the fastest serial diesel car in the world comes in two body types – saloon (sedan) and touring (estate or wagon).
Alpina is introducing the new BMW Alpina D5 S to the global audience at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show. Expected to be the highlight of the Buchloer booth, the Alpina D5 S is eager to prove its worth as a diesel car that could give petrol-powered sedans and wagons a run for their money in terms of acceleration and speed.
The new BMW Alpina D5 S is derived from the new G30 generation of the BMW 5-Series. The BMW Alpina D5 S may have less power output as BMW’s high-performance M550d, but it has more torque. This allowed the BMW Alpina D5 S to be as quick as the BMW M550d. However, electronic limitations were loosened up a little, allowing the D5 S to be faster than the M550d.Read the entire article 2018 BMW Alpina D5 S is one of the fastest serial diesel cars in the world
Maybe you are wondering whether a sedan could be as fast as coupe. Yes, it could be. A driver may not need to pilot a coupe or a sports car just to experience the thrill of speed. In fact, some four-door sedans do achieve top speeds that go beyond a driver’s imagination.
Alpina is getting ready to introduce its new Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo four-door production sedan in the United Kingdom. Derived from the BMW 7 Series, the Alpina B7 is powered by a huge twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine with twin-turbo charging, gasoline direct injection and Valvetronic technologies. Its specially developed twin-scroll turbochargers are able to provide up to 1.2 bar of boost pressure with minimal inertia.
When it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, Alpina announced that the B7 could deliver 600 hp (608 PS) of max output between 5,750 rpm and 6,250 rpm, as well as 590 lb.-ft. (800 Nm) of peak torque available from 3,000 rpm. Even at just 2,000 rpm, this V8 twin-turbo engine already delivers 494 lb.-ft. of torque. As a result, the Alpina B7 could accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 193 mph (310 km/h).Read the entire article 2017 Alpina B7 Bi-Turbo claims to be the fastest four-door in the world
BMW has confirmed that for now, it will not be releasing an M5 Touring. However, for those who want something in a similar vein, then Alpina may have the answer.
Based in Germany, Alpina is an automaker that manufactures cars based mainly on BMW models. Its latest offering is the elegant B5 Bi-Turbo which is based on the latest 5-Series (G30) range of BMW. Fans of the company are likely to be excited as everything they expect from Alpina is there. The alloy 20-inch multi-spoke wheels? Check. Brake calipers in blue? Check. It even has an aerodynamic kit that gives it that timeless design.
Powering this model is the biturbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that is capable of delivering 608 hp (447 kW) with peak torque of 590 lb.-ft. (800 Nm). This output is then channeled to the all-wheel drive system using the automatic eight-speed ZF transmission. With this amount, the sedan version is able to get a maximum speed of 205 mph (330 km/h) with acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) possible in 3.5 seconds. Since the wagon version is a bit heavier, maximum speed is at 202 mph (325 km/h) with acceleration from standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) achieved in 3.6 seconds.Read the entire article Alpina releases elegant B5 Bi-Turbo with 608 hp
With the success of its two platforms, the B3 Biturbo sedan and the B4 Biturbo, Alpina is offering the S trim for these models. This particular trim was developed by the celebrated BMW tuner with the goal of being able to offer a lot more in terms of both performance and power.
If it’s power you want, famed BMW tuners Alpina are more than happy to give it to you. Building on the already successful B3 Biturbo sedan and B4 Biturbo coupe platforms, the company is offering an even hotter S version that delivers more power and more performance.
Starting with the B3, the S version continues to be equipped with the same engine, specifically the turbocharged straight-six 3.0-liter unit. Under the S trim, output is increased from 410 hp (301 kW) in the base model to 440 hp (324 kW). Peak torque is higher as well with the base version having 442 lb.ft-. (600 Nm) and the B3 S at 486 lb.-ft. (660 Nm).Read the entire article Geneva Preview: Alpina offers more powerful S trim for B3 and B4 Biturbo
Alpina had previously teased customers and fans alike with a teaser for its upcoming 2018 B5 Bi-Turbo sedan. That is not enough it seems as the company has released another teaser showing the B5, this time the Wagon version, going through mountain roads. With this, the anticipation for the new B5 has increased further prior to its official debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
Based on what can be gathered from the video, it appears that the new B5 will have the XDrive configuration, and if not offered as standard then a possible option. There is no word however if the brand will release the D5 at the same time as the B5. If not, then it is likely that it will be a few months before Alpina will reveal the diesel version.
With regards to power, many are saying that the B5 will hopefully have at least the same capability as that of the 4.4-liter biturbo V8 engine. This engine can deliver output of 600 hp (441 kW) with maximum torque of 591 lb.-ft. (800 Nm). For the D5, it should have power similar to what the 3.0-liter diesel engine can offer which is 345 hp (257 kW) with peak torque of 516 lb.-ft. (700 Nm).Read the entire article Alpina reveals teaser for 2018 B5 Bi-Turbo Wagon [w/video]
Sooner or later this year, BMW intends to launch a performance version of its recently launched BMW 5 Series (G30) through the new BMW M5. But before we could see that happen, German carmaker Alpina will also be launching its own iteration and interpretation of the BMW 5 Series – the next generation of the Alpina B5.
Just recently, Alpina launched a teaser campaign for its new-gen B5. Two video clips were intended and the German company has just shown the first one. Well, the short video clip – lasting for just 30 seconds – shows a heavily camouflaged Alpina B5 speedily cruising through a road full of snow as surrounded by pine trees. It might be intending the dynamic capability of the new Alpina B5 to take on any challenges on any weather, even if the road is as slippery as an ice skating rink. The video clip ends by announcing that a new BMW Alpina is coming.
Since the 2018 Alpina B5 is heavily camouflaged – and no thanks to the snowy white background – it was pretty hard to see the visual changes implemented by the exclusive carmaker to transform a new BMW 5 Series into a new Alpina B5. Yes, while the new Alpina B5 should be very well derived from the new BMW 5 Series, it doesn’t mean they would look the same. The exterior appearance of the new generation of the BMW 5 Series (G30) should give us a good idea on how the new Alpina B5 would look like when it finally makes its debut on the market.Read the entire article Alpina teases new 2018 B5 ahead of Geneva Motor Show [w/video]
Right when Halloween costume parties have died down, there is this one car that doesn’t care about being late and is up for a good show. A dealership in Abu Dhabi dresses up the new 2017 BMW Alpina B7 in a shade of green reminiscent of Kermit the Frog. The Java Green body paint may come as an unusual choice, but a few car owners are bold enough.
BMW’s Individual catalogue offers a wide choice of special paints for those who dare to be different. That certainly didn’t stop BMW Abu Dhabi’s client to go for what he really likes. And by that, he had chosen the Java Green Metallic for his new Alpina B7. Never mind if the BMW 7 Series looks better in grey, blue or black. Besides, BMW Abu Dhabi has used the same Java Green in other special orders. This isn’t the first time that the striking green color has appeared in their showroom. Eccentric car buyers always get what they want.
Aside from wearing the flamboyant “costume”, the car on display also comes with special wooden interior trims. The wooden finish along the centre console, door panels and dashboard make it more elegant on the inside than it is from the outside.Read the entire article 2017 BMW Alpina B7 surprises in a Java Green special color

It was in 1960 when Burkard Bovensiepen began the foundation with the performance-enhanced version of the BMW 1500. Since then it has been developed to become what is now a permanent fixture under the luxury sports car segment. At that time, Burkard Bovensiepen had the petrol-powered four-cylinder engines having the Weber dual carburetors.
This was considered as a cutting-edge product at the time and marketed through the Alpina. Presently, these products are now integrated to high-tech autos. Fitted at the beginning and combined with the best genes that BMW can offer, they symbolize the best when it comes to comfort, driving culture, performance, and efficiency. Indeed, the new BMW Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo models are able to put all of these qualities together.

The BMW 3-series-based D3 Bi-Turbo is powered by the same twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six diesel engine used by the XD3 and D5 models. This engine can deliver 345bhp and 516lb ft. This marks the first time for Alpina to install a six-cylinder diesel engine on the D3.
A four-cylinder engine powered the new D3’s predecessor in 2005. This remains the top-selling model throughout Alpina’s history. A total of over 2000 units were sold. The engine, which is EU6-compliant, offers a combined economy of 53.3mpg and can emit 139g/km of CO2. The vehicle can sprint from zero to 62mph in 4.6sec and can reach a top speed of 173mph.
