McLaren has already commenced the production of the McLaren Senna sports car this year. On the other hand, Aston Martin will start building the much-anticipated Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar in 2019. There is no doubt that there is overwhelming interest in these limited-series production cars, and the top honcho of Italian sports car maker Lamborghini won't let such opportunity pass by.
Stefano Domenicali, chief executive of Automobili Lamborghini, has disclosed to Autocar that the Italian sports car maker is seriously considering building an “extreme aero” limited-series production car that would compete against the like of the McLaren Senna and Aston Martin Valkyrie.
According to Domenicali, Lamborghini’s possible new limited-series production car would be “in the vein of Centenario and Veneno,” which are both limited production hypercars that fetched millions of Euros in price. Lamborghini only built 40 examples of the Centenario, of which 20 are coupes and 20 are roadster. The upcoming Aston Martin Valkyrie is definitely one of the new cars that the automotive world is waiting for. With a total output of whooping 1,130 hp from its immensely dynamic powertrain, the Valkyrie is touted as a hypercar from the gods, and Aston Martin is making a case of it by posting official images of this new creation on Instagram.
Aston Martin released not just one but three official images of the Valkyrie on Instagram. One of these images show the Valkyrie as viewed from top, while another presents the hypercar from the side. Aston Martin was also kind enough to offer a glimpse of the interior of the Valkyrie. The British carmaker said the cabin of the new Valkyrie is minimalistic.
As the image show, the interior of the hypercar is dipped in carbon fiber. Renault Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn inaugurated the all-new Alpine A110 production line. This inauguration was attended by the Minister for Economy and Finance of France, Bruno Le Maire, with the two also inspecting the production line committed to the new sports car of Alpine. This production line will be part of Groupe Renault’s Alpine facility located in Dieppe, Normandy.
Talking about the new production line, Ghosn revealed that it was in Dieppe where the first-ever Berlinette was manufactured around half a century ago. The renewal of the Alpine production, he added, presented the company with an interesting challenge. Groupe Renault managed to rise to the occasion with Alliance, he continued, especially with support from the local urban district, the region, and ultimately the state. The factory has been completely refurbished, Ghosn declared, through an investment amounting to at least €35 million and the recruitment of 151 individuals. The brand has long been known for its French-style elegance and excellence. With this new production line, Ghosn said, this will no longer be simply claims but an actual industrial reality.
After two years of work and an outlay of at least €35 million, the brand believes that the Dieppe plant will become one of a kind especially in Europe. This new production line will have the capability of assembling the chassis and all-aluminum body of the Alpine A110. Meanwhile the paint shop will have new cleaning and sanding robots in order to ensure that premium quality finish. With 1,130 horsepower at its disposal thanks to a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine with a KERS-style electric drivetrain, the new Aston Martin Valkyrie is a highly potent machine on the road and even on the track. It will even be offered as the track-exclusive Aston Martin AMR Pro race car. A stint at the world’s oldest sports car endurance race – the 24 Hours or Le Mans – could be possible in the future for a racing version of the Valkyrie, according to Aston Martin chief executive Andy Palmer in an interview with Autocar magazine.
Racing at the Le Mans today would seem weird for a track-only version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie. The track-exclusive AMR Pro version of the Valkyrie has been tweaked – boasting more power and more aerodynamic devices – to deliver a kind of performance near to Formula One racers or Le Mans Prototype units. However, it cannot compete in the top class of the Le Mans – the LMP1 – as restricted by the current rules and regulations set by the motor racing’s governing body, the FIA.
Currently, FIA rules for the Le Mans – in particular the LMP1 category – only allow prototype racers to enter the event. The focus of the Le Mans or any other endurance race is on prototype racers, not relying on just speed, but also reliability and efficiency. This is why hybrid systems have recently become the overall winners of Le Mans’ top category. Since only prototype racers are allowed in the top class, there is no way for a race version of the Aston Martin Valkyrie to participate. In was in March 2017 when Aston Martin gave the world its first look at the Valkyrie hypercar. Back then, the brand also revealed that it would create 25 models that are track-exclusive with 150 units being road versions.

It didn’t take long as the A110 is scheduled to make a debut soon. The A110 will come out in two variants, a racing version and a road legal version. And recently, the company revealed a sketch of what looks like the race car variant. The image does not say a lot because only the top part of the front fascia can be seen. But looking at the image, it seems like the road going version will have a more aggressive look, with its pronounced diffuser, a tow hook, and some more details to the hood - all of which helps improve airflow.
Under the hood of the road-going model will be a 1.8 liter turbocharged engine that can produce 252 horsepower (188 kilowatts) and 236 pound feet (320 Newton-metres) of torque. On July 5th, Andy Palmer posted on Twitter making it clear that Valkyrie buyers should not even attempt to sell their build spot for some extra money, as these people will lose the car, and will be banned. And it doesn’t end there, as they never be able to get another special vehicle. He made it clear that they will be able to identify those who tries to flip their reservation slots. Andy Palmer wrote this as a response to a certain @woodsypedia on Twitter with regards to the proposed built slot seen on PistonHeads Classifieds.
This action by Palmer was triggered when a listing by a seller named Knight International cited an “Aston Martin Valkyrie 2019 Build Slot”. On the website, you will find “Price on Request”. However, the tweet that Palmer responded to shows a £9,999,999 ($12.9 million) price tag. Alpine has revealed the production version of the 2018 A110. Prior to this release, the brand implemented a rather long campaign which started with the “Celebration” and followed it up with the “Vision.” For those familiar with the history of this brand, the A110 is the iconic name of the same model released from 1961 and to 1977. With the use of the name plus the fact that its design is clearly retro-inspired, it is clear the brand hopes it would go against the Porsche Cayman.
It was back in 2015 when the Alpine Celebration was first unveiled at the Le Mans. Back then, it showed that the design paid tribute to the class A110 Berlinetta. By 2016, the Alpine Vision concept was shown. This was intended as a preview of the production version. The design of this version was clearly an evolution of the Celebration.
Looking at how the body of the2018 A110 is designed, there is no doubt that it traces its heritage to the “Berlinette.” Still, a large part of the design reveals that there are various modern touches. In addition to fully utilizing architecture that uses mainly aluminum, the new A110 will have a floor that is totally flat. By having a diffuser in the rear, it allowed the brand to refrain from having a spoiler in this area while improving the aerodynamics. Aside from the use of an aluminum-intensive body, the brand also be fitted with bespoke lightweight seats in an attempt to lower the weight further. Aston Martin and Red Bull’s AM-RB 001 hypercar project is moving along quickly. This time, the project partners have already commissioned a number of technical partners that would help in the development and creation of a new mobile unit that is bound to challenge the current hypercar Trinity.
Nearly a year since Aston Martin, Red Bull and AF Racing announced the project, the partners had the chance to shop for more key technical members that could provide the expertise to achieve utmost success. According to Aston Martin and Red Bull, these key technical partners – Cosworth, Ricardo, Rimac, Multimatic, Alcon, Surface Transforms, Bosch and Wipac – were chosen because of their unrivalled expertise as well as their willingness to further push performance boundaries. Even when Aston Martin has been mum about the upcoming AM-RB 001 hypercar, Marek Reichman at least has something new to say. In a recent interview with Australia’s Motoring, the chief designer talked about the AM-RB 001’s 250mph top speed as well as its impressive 4.5 cornering G-force.
Aston Martin’s RB-001, according to Reichman, will have the 1,000hp naturally aspirated V12 with up to 6.0-7.0-litre engine displacement. More so, it will come with Xtrac’s single clutch sequential gearbox.
