Official sketches of the next-generation Audi A6, A7 and A8 finally revealed

Ingolstadt’s design honcho Marc Lichte recently had a talk with L’argus, a French online publication concerning Audi’s new premium models. Surprisingly, this brief conversation leads up to reveal not just a few details but also the official sketches of their new lineup. What you’re seeing right now are the designs of the A6 Sedan, A7 Sportback and the all-new Audi A8. Well, there’s no better way to compare each new model than having them side by side, is there?

While flipping through these drawings ourselves, we thought they all seem to look the same. Except maybe for the new A7--- which bears the sportiest design of the three new sedans. But as we gazed more closely at every detail, we determined how each one is very different from the other. That’s when we noticed how Audi’s new single-frame grille comes with different characteristics.

Since the A6 sedan has relatively smaller configuration, its bumper grille also has a design of its own. Comparatively, the creases along the hood provide the A7 with a sportier look while it seems rather more aggressive on the A8’s fuller body.

Audi planning to switch to lightweight aluminium construction

By 2015, Audi's lineup from the A4 upwards will all have switched to lightweight aluminum construction, according to Autocar. That leaves only the A3 and A1 families that will be based on conventional steel monocoque chassis. The shift to hybrid aluminum construction will be made immediately on the next-generation A6 and A4 models, after rolling it out on the next A8.

Be on the lookout for the third-generation A8 flagship to be shown later this year. It will pioneer the new hybrid aluminum construction techniques that will allow Audi to use the lightweight metal for high volume production. The new A8 structure uses new construction and manufacturing methods that are also utilized for models lower down the range.

The structure consists of large aluminum castings for key areas including the front and rear chassis legs, the front suspension mounts, the base of the A-pillar and the front section of the transmission tunnel.

2019 Audi A6 (C8) unveiled ahead of Geneva Motor Show

Audi has officially released images of its new A6 sedan. While this eight-generation sedan was scheduled to make an appearance at this year's 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the brand was forced to release photos and information after images were leaked to the internet. This makes the new A6 (C8) official as it prepares to join the A7 and the A8.

Under the hood, the new A6 shows that it has the same maneuverability as a compact while also having the handling of a sports car. The redesigned suspensions means the use of aluminum in a number of areas and aids in ride quality even when getting the optional 21-inch wheels fitted with the low-profile tires. For many owners, this mix is rarely seen as something that offers comfort.

While the new version and the previous one may appear to be similar, a closer look reveals some differences. In terms of dimensions, the changes are really minute. The new A6 is longer by 0.3 inches, wider by 0.5 inches, and taller by 0.1 inch. However the front fascia is now more pronounced and combined with the wide singleframe grille, giving it a look much like that of the A7.

As I write this, there leaves no doubt in my mind that the new Audi A8 (D5) is going to be one of the hottest stars at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The full size luxury sedan comes with a number of autonomous driving system meeting level 3 requirements. Already, the A8 sounds quite awesome, but it will be joined by two other concept that are even more high tech - one with level 4 capabilities and another one with a level 5 status, sans the steering wheel and pedals.

The first concept, with level 4 capabilities, will have a coupe-SUV shape based on the E-Tron Sportback concept that we first witnessed at this year’s Auto Shanghai. It will still come with the same dimensions of 4.9 feet in length (16.1 feet), that carries three electric motors delivering a combined output of 496 horsepower (370 kilowatts). This concept enables the car to drive at speeds of 81 miles per hour (130 kph) on the highway, and it can even change lanes automatically without the help of a human being.

The even more advanced concept, on the other hand, will have the shape of a large car (D segment) with at least four electric motors. Naturally, we would expect a lot of power from this, and the automakers say that these will have a battery pack with enough power for 435 to 497 miles (700 to 800 kilometers) and Audi. They also said that the model will feature a “spectacular and groundbreaking” design both on the exterior and the interior.

The 2018 Audi A8 is no doubt one of the more significant models that made its debut this year, and it is quickly becoming a favourite. Not only is it loaded with cool new features, it makes sure that the passengers are comfortable, entertained, and safe.

So that’s basically it for the new Audi A8. It definitely has a lot more to give compared to the third-generation model - physically and technologically.

After teasing the public for months with photos and videos of its new flagship model, Audi has finally unveiled the fourth generation of the brand’s flagship model -- the 2018 Audi A8 (D5). As introduced, the A8 is a luxury sedan. Nonetheless, it would not hurt to imagine other versions of the A8 sedan, namely as A8 Coupe, A8 Avant, S8 and RS8.

Definitely, it is a struggle to imagine how the new generation of the Audi A8 Sedan would look like when interpreted in other forms. However, thanks to a certain visual designer who goes by the name of X-Tomi Design, fans and enthusiasts don’t need to use their imagination so hard. After all, X-Tomi has made it much easier to visualize how good-looking the A8 would be if created as other vehicle types by rendering the sedan as a coupe, a full-size wagon (Avant) or as high-performance sporty models.

In its coupe form, the Audi A8 – using X-Tomi’s render -- would definitely look spectacular. Interestingly, the A8 Coupe by X-Tomi looks familiar; its styling was similar to the Audi Prologue concept that was unveiled at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. This was all expected, as after all, the new design language that made its debut on the new Audi A8 sedan was actually born out of the Audi Prologue concept, a design study in the form of a coupe. While a coupe version of the A8 really looks impressive, there have been indications that the Audi Prologue Concept is a preview of the upcoming A9 flagship. Nevertheless, an A8 coupe is also a welcomed proposition, if there would be one.

Audi A8 (D5) is the talk of the town now - from its Spiderman: Homecoming cameo, its official debut from a couple of days ago, to all the sick features it has got including the new relaxation seats and the laser lights. Now people are wondering whether the A8 will get an RS8 version. For now, we don’t think it will, but it won’t hurt to imagine one.

The first thing PeisertDesign did was to give the A8 a huge black single frame grille with honeycomb pattern on the front fascia. The bumpers on both ends were given a more aggressive style element. On the rear end is a new diffuser that gets the oval RS tailpipes. Larger, blacked out wheels replace the standard set. What completes the overall exterior are the carbon fiber roof that contrasts the green body paint, not to mention the badges on the front and the rear.

As usual, we won’t know what will be on the inside of the Audi RS8, because PeisertDesign has only rendered the exterior. And for the engine, it will probably be equipped with the a 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 developed by Porsche, or it could be a 6.0 liter that can generate 700 bhp.

Audi has just introduced its new flagship model -- the 2018 Audi A8 (D5) – following a slew of teaser photos and short videos in the past few months. Aside from its gasoline (petrol) and diesel versions, the new Audi A8 flagship will also be offered as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) – as the A8 L e-tron quattro -- but a later date. But as to when the PHEV would arrive in the United States, it is reportedly going state-side not this year or in 2018, but sometime early 2019.

According to a report from InsideEVs, a spokesperson from Audi disclosed that the A8 L e-tron quattro is likely to be available to US clients in 2019, although an official decision over the matter has yet to be made, or to be disclosed. As expected, the A8 L e-tron quattro would have its debut in Europe in the middle of 2018. Audi also intends to sell the plug-in hybrid version of its new flagship model in the Far East, particularly in China, at around the same time as in the US (2019).

As Audi announced, the German premium carmaker will initially offer the new A8 two extensively reengineered turbocharged V6 engines – a 3.0-liter TFSI gasoline mill and a 3.0-liter TDI diesel unit. The 3.0 TFSI V6 engine is tuned to deliver 460 hp (338 kW) while the 3.0 TDI mill is engineered to generate 435 hp (210 kW). These V6 engines will be followed soon by two eight-cylinder units: a 4.0 TFSI gasoline engine that delivers 460 hp (338 kW) and a 4.0 TDI diesel unit that generates 435 hp (320 kW). Topping the range is a 6.0-liter W12 mill. All of these engines will be complemented by a mild hybrid technology, an extended start/stop function and an energy recovery output.

Audi's new flagship model is finally here: the 2018 Audi A8 (D5). In the past couple of months, the company has continuously teased us with photos and short videos of the A8 and what features it will be offering. Other than the teasers, it even made an appearance in the latest Spiderman: Homecoming movie.

Well, today is the day, and we have got all the specs from Audi. At first glance, it doesn't look very different from its predecessor. But don’t fret as its new features inside are certain to blow you away. Overall, the 2018 model year is larger than it was before, and it comes in 12 new colours - and 3 of those are new.

On the exterior, the first thing that one will notice is the single frame grille, and the new lasers within the HD Matrix LED high-beam headlamps. This new system doubles the range of the lights at speeds of over 43 mph.

Even as the Audi Summit is about to take place in Barcelona next week, the company decided to tease us even more with the upcoming A8 (D5) flagship. But then again, Audi has been very generous with providing hints about what everyone has been eagerly waiting for.

Though they haven’t revealed everything about it yet, it’s quite obvious that the company isn’t trying to hide the A8 from us. Aside from all the official videos the automaker produced, the car is also soon going to be a Hollywood star, alongside Spidey in Marvel’s latest Spider-Man: Homecoming movie.

The company has revealed a backlit photo of the car showing its profile and some exterior details. There are two very visible lines that remind us of the Prologue concept, while the LED lights are looking very sharp. Other than that, it doesn’t really show anything that we don’t know about yet.

As the premiere day of the Audi A8 (D5) comes closer, the company again gives us another preview of the luxury sedan’s new features before we see it in person in Barcelona on July 11. In this preview, Audi reveals that the range topper will feature an active suspension system that has the ability to sense bumps ahead and automatically adjusts its suspension, for a smoother ride overall.

You might be wondering how that works. Well, there is a front-mounted camera which enables the car to scan the road 18 times per second, and once the information has been sent to the suspension, it automatically pre-sets itself - the driver doesn’t even have to do anything.

The A8’s new feature will completely get rid of any “vibrations and jolts” and the company is very confident about the efficacy of this particular feature. The system is quick enough to react to the information that will be obtained by the camera once it sees a bump on the road, the suspension’s actuators will be programmed to provide the perfect amount of travel to actively control the electromechanical suspension system before hitting the uneven road.

On July 11, Audi is set to reveal its flagship luxury sedan, the all new A8. And at this moment, none of us are sure how this model will look. But we get a good idea of what it will be thanks to Jan Peisert who renders the design of the new Audi A8 (D5) based on the leaked illustration and spy shots of the latest prototype as it goes through its testing stage. As seen on the rendering, the fourth generation Audi A8 has design elements from recently launched concepts and designs by the company. To be specific, it has similarities with the latest TT coupe, the new SQ5 crossover, and the Prologue Avant concept - like bits and pieces of these cars combined.

To give you more details, it’s like a flashback of 2014’s Prologue Concept, a large sports coupe, that had a very angular and sharp face. Though we feel like the A8 was inspired by this concept, it will be a more conservative, toned down version of the concept’s eye catching exterior design - since this might sell better in the market. As for the interior, we have no word on that yet.

Apart from having a semi-autonomous driving mode that is derived from Audi’s Piloted Driving technology, sources say that this car will have more high tech features. One of them would be the self-parking feature, while another is the self-driving function that lets the car drive itself from 0 to 37 miles per hour. It will also come with special control units that will prepare the car for future developments of the autonomous driving software.

During the Audi Summit in Barcelona, Spain this coming July, the all new Audi A8 (D5) luxury saloon will make a publicity stunt. And according to reports, it will make its second appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show, in autumn 2017.

Looking more stylish than ever, the 4th generation Audi A8 will have a sharper, more chiseled look, inspired by the Audi Prologue Concept series, which everybody loved because of its elegance. If we are lucky enough, the A8 may even share qualities of the Prologue like the concave windscreen and a simple, minimalist interior, with its technology hidden behind screens. The A8 will be having a slightly larger footprint as well.

The A8 will be having plenty of automatic features like the Traffic Jam Assist (an updated version) - which basically lets the car just glide along with the speed of the other cars, at a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour during heavy traffic, without any input from the driver. Luckily for the driver, he or she will not have to dread about having to step on the brake pads every couple of seconds.

When the latest Lexus LS flagship sedan was unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, it managed to turn several heads and capture the attention of the world. With its stunning looks and premium specs, the new Lexus LS 500 is expected to revolutionize anew the luxury vehicle sector, just like what the first LS managed to do decades ago.

But how would the new Lexus LS sedan stack up against comparably sized Germany rivals in the luxury segment, like the BMW 740i, Mercedes-Benz S550 and the Audi A8 L 3.0T?

So, our verdict? While the Lexus LS 500 seems to be a good proposition, its price has yet to be announced and its performance is still as good as printed in a paper. For now, the LS 500 wins, until we could really try being behind the wheels of all of these premium sedans.

Audi is bent on building a full electric version for the 2018 Audi A8 model. This next generation of Audi A8 is currently under development and will be the series’ fourth instalment to date. Audi will be releasing the full details of the SUV sometime by the end of next year.

Much has been said about the new A8 and how it will be taking its cue from Audi’s Prologue concept vehicles. Thus, we can get a good picture of it somehow. Technically speaking, the upcoming Audi A8 will be using the MLB evo blueprint otherwise known as the MLB 2. Some Bentley Bentayga vehicle models have already used the same architecture as with the Volkswagen Group’s A4 and Q7.

Soon after Audi introduces the new A8 model, the German brand will shift their attention to manufacturing the Audi e-tron in Belgium. The e-Tron is Audi’s first all-electric vehicle. Having said that, the e-tron is also an electric SUV and will be sharing the same MLB evo platform just like the one used in Audi’s Q7.

Audi has always put their customers first and has prioritized their needs, whether the purpose is for safety or comfort. The brand is even known for sometimes giving in to what can be considered as bizarre requests. One such example is a European customer’s request for a king-sized version of the Audi A8 L. Yes, cars also go in the same sizes as beds but what’s interesting is why this particular customer wanted a larger Audi A8 L.

Of course, Audi conceded and created the six-door Audi A8 L Extended. The Audi A8 L Extended is Audi’s very first version of a king-sized sedan. With a length of 6.36 meters and weight of 2,418 kilograms, this six-seater king-sized sedan offers top-class comfort in every aspect.

It took almost a year for Audi’s engineers to develop this exceptionally long sedan. Most of the challenges came from safety and rigidity as well as the styling of its extra-large body. An Audi Space Frame design made of aluminum was used for the production model’s body, resulting to a low weight.

Have you ever ridden in a car that’s controlled by a piloted driving system? Well, movie star Daniel Brühl and girlfriend Felicitas Rombold just did. Brühl and Rombold were picked up by a 12-cylinder, long-wheelbase Audi A8 L W12 – without a conventional driver – from their hotel in Berlin.

It successfully drove them to the Berlinale Palast for the Berlinale Film Festival. This red-carpet event was a special occasion not only for the internationally renowned actor but also for Audi, which in the process achieved another milestone to its piloted driving strategy.

The Audi A8 L W12 was able to achieve its mission in a smooth manner by logging prominent architectural features along the driving route and comparing this log with precise mapping. The resulting information is then synchronized with data from its own calculation of its movements.

Audi is welcoming a new addition to its vehicle lineup for 2016, the Audi A8 L 4.0T Sport model. This new model boasts of an elegant exterior, a more luxurious interior and a more powerful powertrain.

As its name suggests, the Audi A8 L 4.0T Sport model is tuned for a sports-like performance, which can be mainly attributed to its core – an improved 4.0T twin turbo V8 engine. This new engine, in fact is 15hp more powerful than its predecessor, chugging out up to 450 hp in output.

Indicating the potential of this sport model is the lowered bumper, giving the A8 L 4.0T Sport a more performance-oriented appearance. Moreover, the performance potential of the A8 L 4.0T Sport is evoked by its wider stance, which is made possible by the more prominent rocker panels installed at its sides.

Driving through 14 countries on one tank of fuel earned Audi and the RAC a new Guinness World Record title. For this challenge, the unmodified Audi A6 TDI ultra was chosen. The vehicle easily surpassed its official rating of 67mpg with an average of 75.9mpg. It completed 1158.9 miles without requiring a fuel-stop.

For almost 28 hours, the A6 TDI ultra was driven by motoring journalist Andrew Frankel and racing driver Rebecca Jackson from the Netherlands to Hungary, while passing through Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia.

According to Head of Audi UK Public Relations Jon Zammett, the automaker proved that with the latest engine technology, it can achieve real-world economy of nearly 76 mpg or more after having covered a large portion of Europe on just one fill-up.
