2019 Audi A6 (C8) unveiled ahead of Geneva Motor Show

Audi has officially released images of its new A6 sedan. While this eight-generation sedan was scheduled to make an appearance at this year's 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the brand was forced to release photos and information after images were leaked to the internet. This makes the new A6 (C8) official as it prepares to join the A7 and the A8.

Under the hood, the new A6 shows that it has the same maneuverability as a compact while also having the handling of a sports car. The redesigned suspensions means the use of aluminum in a number of areas and aids in ride quality even when getting the optional 21-inch wheels fitted with the low-profile tires. For many owners, this mix is rarely seen as something that offers comfort.

While the new version and the previous one may appear to be similar, a closer look reveals some differences. In terms of dimensions, the changes are really minute. The new A6 is longer by 0.3 inches, wider by 0.5 inches, and taller by 0.1 inch. However the front fascia is now more pronounced and combined with the wide singleframe grille, giving it a look much like that of the A7.

Audi A6 TDI ultra drives through 14 countries with no fuel stops

Driving through 14 countries on one tank of fuel earned Audi and the RAC a new Guinness World Record title. For this challenge, the unmodified Audi A6 TDI ultra was chosen. The vehicle easily surpassed its official rating of 67mpg with an average of 75.9mpg. It completed 1158.9 miles without requiring a fuel-stop.

For almost 28 hours, the A6 TDI ultra was driven by motoring journalist Andrew Frankel and racing driver Rebecca Jackson from the Netherlands to Hungary, while passing through Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia.

According to Head of Audi UK Public Relations Jon Zammett, the automaker proved that with the latest engine technology, it can achieve real-world economy of nearly 76 mpg or more after having covered a large portion of Europe on just one fill-up.

2016 Audi A6 L e-tron unveiled in China

Audi has announced that local production of the A6 L e-tron in China will start in 2016. The very fuel-efficient and powerful A6 L e-tron sedan was developed especially for the market in China. The plug-in hybrid drive produces 180 kW (245 hp) and boasts an average fuel consumption of only 2.2 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (106.9 US mpg).

The automaker had launched the e-tron era in the Chinese market with the imported A3 Sportback e-tron in 2015. The A6 L e-tron is derived from the long version of the Audi A6, which is already in production in China. It has the configuration of a very efficient parallel hybrid, which means that its two drives are positioned one directly at the back of the other.

The 2.0 TFSI is a highly advanced, four-cylinder gasoline engine that can deliver 155 kW (211 hp) and 350 Nm (258.1 lb-ft) of torque. It is equipped with a disk-shaped electric motor that produces 91 kW and 220 Nm (162.3 lb-ft) of torque. When working with a decoupler, this is integrated into the eight-speed tiptronic transmission, shifting the power to the front wheels.

Audi discontinues the A6 Hybrid due to poor sales

Audi introduced the A6 Hybrid back in 2010 but this model was not quite a best seller and according to the German manufacturer only 4,000 units left the showrooms. At the beginning, the A6 Hybrid made its debut in Europe but due to poor sales, the model didn’t reach the United States. Audi decided to drop the A6 Hybrid as the vehicle failed to impress the market and now it is too late to do it.

Last month the A6 Facelift arrived and as you may have noticed, the A6 Hybrid was not present in new lineup. Comparing it with other hybrid vehicles, the A6 Hybrid was not quite a masterpiece.

The model was powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine that delivered 211 hp (155 kW) as well as by an electric motor that produced an additional 45 hp (33 kW) and 211 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque.

China is one of the most important markets for the Volkswagen Group in order to become the world’s largest carmaker. As a result the German company will offer a new luxury sedan exclusively for this market. Set to arrive next year, the new luxury sedan will be based on the Audi A6 but not too many details are available.

For those who don’t know, the Audi A6 is the best-selling luxury sedan in China but the new sedan will boost the brand value of Volkswagen. What’s more interesting is the upcoming vehicle will actually be a rival for the Audi A6.

Pricing will also be a problem: if the vehicle will be too expensive, then customers will go straight to Audi, but if the price is not too high, then what’s the point? Codenamed 511, the upcoming luxury sedan was designed in Europe but will be built in China by Shanghai Volkswagen.

Audi revealed today the A6 Facelift, an updated version of its popular model which is offered in three versions: Sedan, Avant and Allroad Quattro. Each model received subtle modifications such as an updated Singleframe grille, new headlights featuring a refreshed design for the LED daytime running lights, redesigned air inlets, bumpers, side sills, rear lights and tailpipes.

As an option, the 2015 Audi A6 Facelift is available with Matrix LED technology. According to the German company, the A6 Facelift arrives with an intelligent composite construction concept where the body is extremely rigid and safe. Thanks to its aluminum components and hot-shaped steel, the new A6 1.8 TFSI has a curb weight (without the driver) of 1,535 kg (1184.1 lb).

The new Audi design collection in the interior offers the flint gray colour, while the front seats are now available with optional ventilation and massage functions. A6 Avant models offer a luggage compartment volume between 565 and 1,680 liters (20 and 59.3 cu ft) of space while as an option, there is a sensor-controlled automatic tailgate combined with a power luggage compartment cover.

Audi A6 Sedan won the International Design Excellence Award 2012 (IDEA) for its innovative design. This design award is one of the most prestigious in the U.S. The A6 family seems to be on a roll as it was recently given the red dot award.

A6 Sedan was able to fend off its competition from around the world to get the Silver Award in the ‘Transportation’ category of the International Design Excellence Award 2012. Wolfgang Egger, Audi’s Head of Design, is glad that the model isn’t admired just by its customers in Europe. Rather, the award is proof that its design idiom is understood and is well-accepted by consumers in the U.S.

Egger said that what the Industrial Designers Society of America liked about the model are its dynamic looks and the interplay of design idiom and innovative technology in the A6 Sedan. He added that the brand claim of “Vorsprung durch Technik” indicates that the company considers it very significant to match technology and design perfectly.

Safety organization Euro NCAP named the Audi A6 as one of the nine vehicles in its latest tested batch to receive the maximum five-star rating. After testing the model with a 2.0 diesel, Euro NCAP gave it a score of 41 points for child occupant protection, achieving maximum points for the tests on both the 18 month old child and 3 year old child.

In its class, the new Audi A6 is one of the safest cars according to the results to the tests on adult occupant protection in a frontal or side collision and child safety and pedestrian protection.

The top rating of five stars was given to the A6 for driver and passenger protection in frontal and side impact collisions. When it comes to active safety, the Audi A6 features an integral pedestrian protection system with standard daytime running lights and optional night vision assistant with a pedestrian warning.

Audi also introduced today at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show the 2012 A6 Hybrid, its second hybrid model after the Q5 Hybrid Quattro. As expected, the car carries the same technology found on the other model: a 155 kW (211 hp) 2.0 TFSI paired with an electric motor that delivers 33 kW (45 hp) and 211 Nm (155.63 lb-ft) of torque.

The electric motor is found behind the TFSI, occupying the space of the torque converter upstream of the modified 8-speed tiptronic. Just like the Q5 Hybrid Quattro, the transmission sends torque to the front wheels.

The lithium-ion battery that provides 1.3 kWh of nominal power and generates 39 kW, is found in a crash-protected area of the luggage compartment. In order to maintain it within the appropriate temperature range, the battery is air-cooled in two ways: by means of a blower from the interior or by means of an refrigerant circuit coupled to the automatic air conditioning system.

Audi’s newly revamped A6 model has been filled with fresh and creative solutions to several problems, some of which can be considered trivial. Audi is doing this in an effort to change the dynamics in the mid-size luxury sedan segment. Audi aims for the 2012 A6 to boost the pace in the luxury market as it seeks to become a trend-setter in this segment.

Audi used new methods of molding sheet metal making the body of the new A6 lighter, stiffer and safer. Audi also used high-tech materials and design methods to lower the interior noise.

The use of composite steel-aluminum gives the vehicle a comfortable and nimble ride. To go with the high-class executive look, the headlights were redesigned and now feature a shallow design that becomes wider towards the fenders, moving the focus towards the sides of the vehicle. Audi offers Xenon plus lights with a LED daytime running strip as a very tempting option.

This is the 2012 Audi A6, the all-new luxury sedan from the German manufacturer which promises to offer a new design inspired by the A8 flagship sedan, new engines, as well as better performances. As you can see from the photos, the design is dominated by the front end showing new LED headlights but also the well-known Audi front grille seen on all Audi models.

Moreover, the new A6 comes with new elegant design lines, as well as a new set of taillights which give a three-dimensional effect to their light pattern.

The 2012 A6 will be offered in 12 paint finishes: two solid colors dubbed Ibis White and Brilliant Black, two pearl-effect colors dubbed Phantom Black and Garnet Red, and eight metallic hues bearing the names Aviator Blue, Dakota Gray, Ice Silver, Havana Black, Moonlight Blue, Oolong Gray, Quartz Gray and – coming soon – Glacier White.

As you may know already, earlier today Audi introduced the brand new 2012 A6 sedan and made quite a buzz, but it appears that this is not the only new model as the German manufacturer also announced the introduction of the A6 Hybrid, its second hybrid model after the Q5 hybrid Quattro.

As expected, the new car will receive the same technology like the Q5 hybrid Quattro, which means we will see a 155 kW (211 hp) 2.0 TFSI engine, as well as an electric motor delivering 33 kW (45 hp) and 211 Nm (155.63 lb-ft) of torque.

According to Audi, the electric motor is situated directly behind the TFSI, occupying the space of the torque converter upstream of the modified 8-speed tiptronic.

Audi has released a teaser for the new-generation A6 vehicle that it is currently preparing to launch. With this vehicle, Audi is hoping that it will eventually gain some ground on the mid-size luxury segment which is currently dominated by the new models from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

Audi’s teaser doesn’t show much as it is hiding under a sheet but it was confirmed that the new A6 will be built at the Neckarsulm site, which produces the A8, A8 L (long wheelbases version), R8 Spyder and A7 Sportback models.

Production of the new A6 will start by the end of the current year. The sedan is expected to arrive at the market early next year.

With all the issues going around the automotive industry, car makers have to be more mindful of their moves, especially when it comes to the development and production of cars.

Like now, European spec cars had just been given a new set of requirements, and this will mean a production shutdown for BMW’s flagship 7 Series sedan for an entire year. To be more specific, this shutdown really only affects gas powered vehicles, and diesel engine will still be produced. This is quite an odd thing considering that diesel variants have a reputation of being the more polluted engines, especially with the Volkswagen’s Dieselgate scandal.

The decision to shut down engines began when the new requirements of the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (also known as WLTP) were implemented. These rules began in 2017 after new forms of emissions testing has been done, and apparently, these are a better way to measure vehicle emission in real world driving.

Ford have recently been dropping hints about a new Ford Fusion, and what I mean is that they will soon reveal the redesigned sedan for 2020. But even before this, they are already considering a minor upgrade for the mid-sized 2019 model year. Some of the more noticeable upgrades include visual cues on the outside like a new grille and LED driving lamps up front, as well as a new trunk lid panel and LED tail lights in the rear.

As for technology, the Ford Fusion has now been given Ford’s driver assist systems, which they had just rebranded as Co-Pilot360 earlier this month. Now, this comes standard throughout the Fusion line.

Having said that, even the base model Fusion S will be equipped with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, auto high-beam headlights, and a rear backup camera. If you want to opt for something more premium, then there is also the Co-Pilot360 Assist. This adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, voice activated navigation with Sirius XM Traffic and Travel Link.

The Mercedes-AMG S63 – both in its sedan and coupe guises -- is a high-performance luxurious ride that offers 612 PS (603 hp or 450 kW) of max output and 900 Nm of peak torque. These massive numbers are already considered as the higher levels of performance, but people at Brabus believe more can be done to further increase these figures. Turning belief to reality, the well-known German tuning company created the new Brabus 800 Sedan and Coupe as based on the AMG S 63 4Matic+.

As its name indicates, the Brabus 800 Sedan and Coupe based on the AMG S 63 boasts of 800 PS (789 hp or 588 kW) of max output from the heavily upgraded AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine. The peak torque level has already been boosted from 900 Nm to 1,000 Nm (737 lb.-ft.) as available at just 3,600 rpm. An untouched AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine is already powerful enough to send the AMG S 63 – both sedan and coupe versions -- sprinting from nil to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and achieving a top speed of 250 km/h.

But the upgraded eight-cylinder mill with its boosted power allows the Brabus 800 Sedan and Coupe based on the AMG S 63 to dash from true zero to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds quicker than their regular counterparts. As for the top speed of the Brabus 800 Sedan and Coupe based on the AMG S 63, these tuned units could go as fast as 300 km/h (186 mph). For those seeking a faster unit, Brabus is currently working hard to create some tweaks to allow the Brabus 800 Sedan and Coupe based on the AMG S 63 to go a lot faster.

A lot of people question why there is even a 2018 Mercedes-AMG S65, firstly because it costs a lot more than the S63 sedan ($82,500 more) and yet, it is 0.7 second slower when sprinting from zero to 60 miles per hour. Both cars not only have similar top speeds, but they both offer the same options and features. In other words, we do not clearly see why the S65 should cost a lot more than the S63. We don’t see it both on paper, and when looking at it. Therefore, paying for so much more is quite irrational. But I guess that’s why its customers would want this model.

Nick Martin, AMG Product Manager at Mercedes-Benz, says that there will always be someone who prefers a 12-cylinder, and that they will buy the ultimate in performance because that’s their character.

The S65 is one of the few models out there that are still offered with a V12 engine, hence making it very exclusive. And of all Mercedes models, this is the only one with the S-Class powertrain that has been unchanged for the 2018 model year. Martin continues to say that the S65 has a niche market, and these people buy it not for logical reasons but because it is considered the best model in the dealership, saying that “the S65 exists because there is no S75”.

For those of you who have extremely high standards, the Mercedes-Benz S Class may not be opulent enough for you. And this is the reason why the automaker decided to make the high class sedan a notch more luxurious with its Maybach variant. This model will make an appearance at next month’s 2018 Geneva Motor Show, before it goes on sale in the United States in the late summer of 2018.

What makes this variant stand out from its siblings would be the new grille that uses vertical slats, instead of the regular horizontal ones. On the lower fascia, you will find a metallic trim that gives the vehicle a flashier look.

The most prominent change here, however, would be the car’s profile. The 2019 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class now measures 215 inches (5,461 millimeters) long, while riding on a 132.5 inch (3,365.5 mm) wheelbase. This is a whopping 10 inches (254mm) increase than even the long-wheelbase S-Class Sedan. Having said that, passengers should have a lot more leg room in the cabin.

If you have driven, or at least heard of the BMW M550i’s performance specs, you will definitely be blown away, as it can hit the 60 miles per hour sprint in under four seconds, with its 4.4 liter, twin turbo V8 engine. This engine lets the vehicle carry out 456 horsepower and 480 pound feet of torque of tap, which also makes it half a second quicker than the previous M5 that is actually equipped with the same engine.

Now, we already know that the new M5 is the perfect car for people who enjoy driving crazy powerful cars, and with all its power, it barely needs any upgrade. But looking at this machine sometimes makes you think of what more can it give.

Well, if you happen to be in the area, you might want to head out to the world’s largest BMW dealership located in the Persian Gulf emirate of Abu Dhabi. Because that is where you will find this brand-new M550i xDrive.

This BMW 7 Series in the 730Li spec features a 2.0 liter four cylinder power unit. It also gets a longer wheelbase and that means that it is heavier and will tax its engine even more. This particular model we are talking about today can be found in the BMW Abu Dhabi Motors dealership and is finished in a beautiful Ruby Black Metallic finish.

Exterior upgrades that come with it include a 3D Design front spoiler, an M Performance trunk lid spoiler, and an M Performance kidney grille. And we are quite sure you noticed the new set of wheels it sits on as they measure 21 inches in diameter, and have been finished in an orbit grey shade.

As you move into the car’s interior, there are clear signs that this had been made by the automaker’s BMW Individual division. Red leather covers the seats, the door panels and part of the center console and the bottom part of the dashboard.
