Audi has officially released images of its new A6 sedan. While this eight-generation sedan was scheduled to make an appearance at this year's 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the brand was forced to release photos and information after images were leaked to the internet. This makes the new A6 (C8) official as it prepares to join the A7 and the A8.
Under the hood, the new A6 shows that it has the same maneuverability as a compact while also having the handling of a sports car. The redesigned suspensions means the use of aluminum in a number of areas and aids in ride quality even when getting the optional 21-inch wheels fitted with the low-profile tires. For many owners, this mix is rarely seen as something that offers comfort.
While the new version and the previous one may appear to be similar, a closer look reveals some differences. In terms of dimensions, the changes are really minute. The new A6 is longer by 0.3 inches, wider by 0.5 inches, and taller by 0.1 inch. However the front fascia is now more pronounced and combined with the wide singleframe grille, giving it a look much like that of the A7.Read the entire article 2019 Audi A6 (C8) unveiled ahead of Geneva Motor Show
Driving through 14 countries on one tank of fuel earned Audi and the RAC a new Guinness World Record title. For this challenge, the unmodified Audi A6 TDI ultra was chosen. The vehicle easily surpassed its official rating of 67mpg with an average of 75.9mpg. It completed 1158.9 miles without requiring a fuel-stop.
For almost 28 hours, the A6 TDI ultra was driven by motoring journalist Andrew Frankel and racing driver Rebecca Jackson from the Netherlands to Hungary, while passing through Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia.
According to Head of Audi UK Public Relations Jon Zammett, the automaker proved that with the latest engine technology, it can achieve real-world economy of nearly 76 mpg or more after having covered a large portion of Europe on just one fill-up.Read the entire article Audi A6 TDI ultra drives through 14 countries with no fuel stops
Audi has announced that local production of the A6 L e-tron in China will start in 2016. The very fuel-efficient and powerful A6 L e-tron sedan was developed especially for the market in China. The plug-in hybrid drive produces 180 kW (245 hp) and boasts an average fuel consumption of only 2.2 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (106.9 US mpg).
The automaker had launched the e-tron era in the Chinese market with the imported A3 Sportback e-tron in 2015. The A6 L e-tron is derived from the long version of the Audi A6, which is already in production in China. It has the configuration of a very efficient parallel hybrid, which means that its two drives are positioned one directly at the back of the other.
The 2.0 TFSI is a highly advanced, four-cylinder gasoline engine that can deliver 155 kW (211 hp) and 350 Nm (258.1 lb-ft) of torque. It is equipped with a disk-shaped electric motor that produces 91 kW and 220 Nm (162.3 lb-ft) of torque. When working with a decoupler, this is integrated into the eight-speed tiptronic transmission, shifting the power to the front wheels.Read the entire article 2016 Audi A6 L e-tron unveiled in China
Audi introduced the A6 Hybrid back in 2010 but this model was not quite a best seller and according to the German manufacturer only 4,000 units left the showrooms. At the beginning, the A6 Hybrid made its debut in Europe but due to poor sales, the model didn’t reach the United States. Audi decided to drop the A6 Hybrid as the vehicle failed to impress the market and now it is too late to do it.
Last month the A6 Facelift arrived and as you may have noticed, the A6 Hybrid was not present in new lineup. Comparing it with other hybrid vehicles, the A6 Hybrid was not quite a masterpiece.
The model was powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine that delivered 211 hp (155 kW) as well as by an electric motor that produced an additional 45 hp (33 kW) and 211 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque.Read the entire article Audi discontinues the A6 Hybrid due to poor sales
China is one of the most important markets for the Volkswagen Group in order to become the world’s largest carmaker. As a result the German company will offer a new luxury sedan exclusively for this market. Set to arrive next year, the new luxury sedan will be based on the Audi A6 but not too many details are available.
For those who don’t know, the Audi A6 is the best-selling luxury sedan in China but the new sedan will boost the brand value of Volkswagen. What’s more interesting is the upcoming vehicle will actually be a rival for the Audi A6.
Pricing will also be a problem: if the vehicle will be too expensive, then customers will go straight to Audi, but if the price is not too high, then what’s the point? Codenamed 511, the upcoming luxury sedan was designed in Europe but will be built in China by Shanghai Volkswagen.Read the entire article VW working on a luxury sedan based on Audi A6, will be offered only in China

Audi A6 Sedan won the International Design Excellence Award 2012 (IDEA) for its innovative design. This design award is one of the most prestigious in the U.S. The A6 family seems to be on a roll as it was recently given the red dot award.
A6 Sedan was able to fend off its competition from around the world to get the Silver Award in the ‘Transportation’ category of the International Design Excellence Award 2012. Wolfgang Egger, Audi’s Head of Design, is glad that the model isn’t admired just by its customers in Europe. Rather, the award is proof that its design idiom is understood and is well-accepted by consumers in the U.S.
Egger said that what the Industrial Designers Society of America liked about the model are its dynamic looks and the interplay of design idiom and innovative technology in the A6 Sedan. He added that the brand claim of “Vorsprung durch Technik” indicates that the company considers it very significant to match technology and design perfectly.Read the entire article Audi A6 Sedan takes the International Design Excellence Award 2012 (IDEA)

Audi also introduced today at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show the 2012 A6 Hybrid, its second hybrid model after the Q5 Hybrid Quattro. As expected, the car carries the same technology found on the other model: a 155 kW (211 hp) 2.0 TFSI paired with an electric motor that delivers 33 kW (45 hp) and 211 Nm (155.63 lb-ft) of torque.
The electric motor is found behind the TFSI, occupying the space of the torque converter upstream of the modified 8-speed tiptronic. Just like the Q5 Hybrid Quattro, the transmission sends torque to the front wheels.
The lithium-ion battery that provides 1.3 kWh of nominal power and generates 39 kW, is found in a crash-protected area of the luggage compartment. In order to maintain it within the appropriate temperature range, the battery is air-cooled in two ways: by means of a blower from the interior or by means of an intern.al refrigerant circuit coupled to the automatic air conditioning system.Read the entire article 2012 Audi A6 Hybrid: official details, photos and specs
Audi’s newly revamped A6 model has been filled with fresh and creative solutions to several problems, some of which can be considered trivial. Audi is doing this in an effort to change the dynamics in the mid-size luxury sedan segment. Audi aims for the 2012 A6 to boost the pace in the luxury market as it seeks to become a trend-setter in this segment.
Audi used new methods of molding sheet metal making the body of the new A6 lighter, stiffer and safer. Audi also used high-tech materials and design methods to lower the interior noise.
The use of composite steel-aluminum gives the vehicle a comfortable and nimble ride. To go with the high-class executive look, the headlights were redesigned and now feature a shallow design that becomes wider towards the fenders, moving the focus towards the sides of the vehicle. Audi offers Xenon plus lights with a LED daytime running strip as a very tempting option.Read the entire article 2012 Audi A6 says hello to the 2011 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS)

Mercedes-AMG only came out with the E43 lineup a few years ago, and already, the said model is ready to retire the badge so they could give way for the arrival of the electrified E53 family. It was first revealed at the beginning of the year during the Detroit Auto Show and came in two body styles, a coupe and a cabriolet. These were then followed by the reveal of the sedan and wagon flavours last month.
And according to the automaker, towards the end of the year, Mercedes will be selling the 2019 model year E53 Sedan in the United States, as a replacement of the E43 Sedan, and it will come along with the more upscale two-door E53 models. To make it clear, the name change is just a minor thing.
The real upgrade is in its performance, as it now packs more power. But instead, the new inline six biturbo 3.0 liter engine has an output of 429 horsepower and 384 pound feet of torque. That’s a noticeable difference compared to the old model that offered the output of 396 horsepower and 384 pound feet that came from the former V6 engine.Read the entire article 2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 Sedan will be available in the US later this year

Audi A6 (C8) is still quite fresh in the market but already, artists have been rendering the said model, with variants of their own. Recently, we saw a hot RS6 makeover of the sporty saloon, but now, artist Tobias Buttner gives us his take on the German luxury saloon, giving it a more rugged theme. As you could see in the photos, this is a rendering of the A6 Allroad model. Like all the Allroad models, it adopts new body cladding and a higher ride height, both in an effort to enhance off road practicality.
The standard styling cues of the standard A6 are carried over, of course, but there are also a number of unique variations to note. For instance, the grille, while still large and imposing, features vertical chrome inserts as opposed to the horizontal design found of the standard model. The accenting vents have been made more subtle, and there is a silver running board located just below the grille.
Expect the ride height to be a little higher, and there’s plastic body cladding around the wheels that assures that it will be able to take on tougher roads, without leaving the paint of the fenders scratched. The previous model is just a bit taller, with its height raised by just 3.5 centimeters (35 mm) over the standard sedan, with an available one extra centimetre (10 mm) of lift available at low speeds. Expect similar figures for the new model; that is, if Audi chooses to build it.Read the entire article Tobias Buttner renders a rugged, more capable 2019 Audi A6 (C8) Allroad
A few days back, we discussed that Ford’s plan involves retiring most of its compact cars and sedans and replacing them with SUVs. However, there would be two small models that will remain in the lineup -- the Mustang and the Focus Active, at least for the United States. So what is the automaker’s reason for doing so? Well, the answer is as simple as this - money.
To support that statement, Jim Hackett, Ford’s CEO said in his interview with Automotive News that they have decided to just focus on the healthier part of the business, referring to trucks and crossovers. In the first quarter of 2018 alone, the company’s sales of $3 billion all came from this segment. Soon, 90 percent of all sales will come from this.
The CEO added that they will soon deal with the parts of the company that destroy value. He, of course, is speaking of sedans and hatchbacks. In fact, by 2022, they hope to uncover $25.5 billion in savings with the switch to SUVs and trucks. This is double the amount identified back in October ($14 million).Read the entire article Why is Ford getting rid of its sedans and hatchbacks?
During the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, Geely revealed a new flagship saloon model, and for the very first time, it looks like the Chinese automaker might actually set the bar for other international marques to follow.
The Bo Rui GE is the first-ever model to roll out of the automaker’s new design centers set up by Peter Horbury, the company’s head of design, who once worked in Volvo and is now with Geely to oversee design of the company’s subsidiaries. He has been a part of brands like Lotus and LEVC, also known as the company that makes the London taxi.
According to Horbury, the Bo Rui GE was not made under the influence of the Western culture. Rather, it is a sign that the Chinese’s tastes are changing. During his interview, he also stated that the Chinese market has evolved and has become more sophisticated and mature compared to how they were a few years ago. This way, the automaker has also evolved into becoming a confident global brand that can now develop segment-leading cars, but still with a hint of its Chinese origin.Read the entire article Geely’s flagship Bo Rui GE sedan appears ready to take on the world

The seventh generation of the Lexus ES premium sedan (2019 model year) has just been unveiled at the 2018 Auto China (Beijing Motor Show), boasting a more dynamic performance, an all-new exterior design as well as a comfortable and luxurious interior.
Essentially, the 2019 Lexus ES owes its latest evolved character to the all-new Global Architecture-K (GA-K) platform. Its wheelbase is longer by 2 inches while its tracks are wider both on the front (by 0.4 inches) and the rear (by 1.5 inches).
