A decade ago, BMW invented the luxury coupe-SUV segment with the X6. And it is only this year that Audi decided to join them with the first ever Q8 SUV. This model is new to the Q family of high riding vehicles, giving customers both versatility of an SUV, and elegance of a five door coupe.
The size of the Q8 is pretty much like the Q7’s dimensions. But because of its sloping roofline design, it looks like it sits closer to the ground. Its wheelbase measures almost three meters (118 inches), a huge cabin, for which Audi says is superior compared to their competitors within its segment, namely the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.
Moving on to the Q8’s capacity, it has a larger boot that can hold up to 605 liters (21.3 cubic feet) of your bags when the rear seats are in place, and can be expanded to 1,755 liters (61.9 cubic feet) when folded. To make it easier for us to explain, the boot can fit two golf bags in a transverse direction. As standard, the tailgate is electrically operated, but it can also be had with an electric parcel shelf.Read the entire article Audi Q8 is their very first coupe-SUV model
It looks like that Audi is in the final stages of finalizing its new Audi Q8 sports utility vehicle. While the German premium carmaker has yet to reveal the looks of the production version of the new Audi A8, there have already been quite a number of spy images and videos of the upcoming SUV, albeit in a camouflaged form. Just recently, though, the Audi Q8 was spotted on the road, and this time without any camouflage.
Seeing a near-production version -- or even a prototype model – of the Audi Q8 is a welcome development, considering that fact that the premium carmaker isn’t nice enough to reveal this early the complete appearance of the SUV. A member of the AutoPareri forum was lucky enough to see the Audi Q8 SUV up close while being driven somewhere in Germany (based from the German registration plates). However, this person was only able to take a spy shot of the Audi Q8’s rear end and most of its sides. This may be because this member was mesmerized by the sudden appearance of the Audi Q8, and wasn’t able to take several shots of the SUV.
Despite this single photo showing only the rear end of the Audi Q8, there are already a lot of details that could be extracted. For instance, the image reveals the design of the Q8’s sleek rear lights and its roof spoiler, as well as its massive bumper diffuser with two integrated exhaust pipes. When compared to the rear end of the Audi Q8 Concept, the Q8 spotted on the road has a number of design similarities. There are also several differences, including the LED light strip on the rear door of the hatchback. But as we all know, production versions are usually subtler in terms of design than concepts. That should hold true with the upcoming Audi Q8 SUV.Read the entire article Audi Q8 prototype without camouflage spotted in Germany
German auto maker Audi is planning to compete with SUVs in the global market by announcing that production plans for 2 new members of its company are in place. The arrival of the 2 new models has been placed on the schedule of the company. Meet the Q4 compact utility vehicle and the larger Q8.
The Q8 coupe SUV is the latest addition to the Audi line-up, and it was recently seen testing at the Nurburgring race track twice last week. It is estimated to be the same size as the Q7, but is more lowered than the Q7 and is built with a rather sloped roof line. Audi confirmed that the production of the Audi Q8 will begin in Bratislava, Slovakia in the year 2018, and the very first Audi Q4 will be produced in Gyor, Hungary in 2019.
The plant located in Bratislavia, Slovakia has been producing the Q7s ever since 2005, and currently manufactures the second-gen unit that includes different versions such as the Q7 E-tron plug in hybrid and a sporty S model. The German automaker powerhouse remarked that the Q8 is equipped with the state of the art tech that offers assistance and infotainment systems, and boasts of a roomy vehicle with an expressive design.Read the entire article Audi Q8 coupe-SUV production begins in 2018, Q4 is scheduled for 2019
Audi refreshes its portfolio as its go-faster division officially announces the release of six new RS models by the end of 2018. That’s quite a huge number of cars to develop simultaneously. Now, should main competitors BMW and Mercedes-Benz be wary of Audi’s upcoming projects?
Ex-Lamborghini boss, and now Audi Sport’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann confirms this news in an interview with Car & Driver, just after saying that he was not interested in developing the Sports Quattro and had other things to focus on. He continues by saying that they are working on a crossover that is due in no time. Here, he refers to the upcoming Q-badged models that will top the current RS models.
So let us discuss these models one by one. Although Winkelmann did not specify which SUVs, it’s not that hard to guess. In fact, the company did mention in 2015 that an RS Q5 and Q7 would be a good idea. Other than that, they did release a concept earlier this month at the Geneva Motor Show, which they called the Q8 Sport Concept. Therefore, this may already be hinting at a possible RS version of the unreleased SUV.Read the entire article Six new Audi RS models are on the way
As expected, a number of major carmakers are on full force in unveiling their new concept vehicles at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show. Of course, these concepts are just show cars aimed at telling the public that the auto companies are cooking something good and interesting.
Usually, concepts preview upcoming models. Sometimes, they are just design or technology studies. At times, concepts are used to gauge the interest of a public on a certain model.
Whatever carmakers intend for their concepts, these show cars are usually a sight to behold. Here are five concepts that we think are noteworthy of mentioning.Read the entire article Top 5 concept cars seen at 2017 Geneva Motor Show
A few days after celebrating the New Year, Audi unveiled its first Q8 Concept at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit signifying the start of a new flagship SUV for the German automobile manufacturer.
The Q8 concept is Audi’s first entry in the full-size, coupe SUV segment which is also set for production in 2018. It is a mix of sporty and sexy without sacrificing classic SUV functionality. The Q8 concept, as an SUV, is quite spacious, allowing enough room for four persons (with individual seats).
As a concept, the Q8 will use production technologies for its drive system and is expected to be powered by a plug-in hybrid system, combining power from a 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor. Along with its eight-speed automatic gearbox, it can produce up to 443 horsepower (330 kilowatts) and 516.3 lb.-ft. (700 Nm) of torque. Moreover, it can achieve a 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) sprint in only 5.4 seconds and can reach an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 kph).Read the entire article 2017 Geneva Motor Show: Audi Q8 Sport Concept is sportier but more fuel-efficient
When the Audi Q8 Concept was unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, it immediately became one of the stars of the event thanks to its eye-catching coupe-like design and roomy interior. This concept got many people looking forward to its eventual production and launch in 2018. Nonetheless, a sportier and more dynamic version of the Audi Q8 may soon make its arrival.
Just recently, rumors have started saying that Audi Sport is planning to create a high-performance RS version of the Audi Q8. According to a report by AutoCar, Audi Sport will be previewing the Audi RS Q8 at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March. Most likely, a concept version Audi RS Q8 would make an appearance on the show.
As a vehicle with high-performance capabilities, Audi RS Q8 boasts of a power level that should significantly outdo the Audi Q8 unveiled in Detroit. The Audi Q8 Concept is basically a plug-in hybrid SUV that carefully fuses sporty performance with high efficiency.Read the entire article Audi RS Q8 Concept rumored to make an appearance at 2017 Geneva Motor Show
Audi recently unveiled its Q8 full-size coupe SUV concept at the 2017 North American International Auto Show. Bearing the traditional functionality of an SUV and the sexy and sporty styling cues of a coupe, the Audi Q8 Concept is a near-production study. As such, we could expect most of the design and styling cues on the Audi Q8 Concept shown at the Detroit Auto Show to be brought over to the final production version.
More often than not, the final production version of a certain vehicle looks and feels different from its concept, prototype or design study. Auto companies typically make the vehicle concept more radical, more attractive and more fascinating – all for the sake of catching the attention of the public. By the time the carmaker unveils the production version, it has already been toned down.
Likewise, while a concept is already a near-production model, some design and styling cues might still not make it to the production version. Knowing these, auto styling specialist X-Tomi Design of Tard, Hungary has rendered a version of the Audi Q8 Concept that has been toned down to look like a production version.Read the entire article X-Tomi renders possible production version of Audi Q8 Concept
Undoubtedly the most surprising and first biggest entry in this year’s NAIAS is Audi’s full-size coupe SUV concept. The Audi Q8 Concept is the company’s first venture into the segment after the Q7, which will soon be ready for production by 2018. According to Audi, the Q8 concept bears the traditional SUV’s functionality with the coupe’s sexy and sporty styling cues. And that’s exactly how we see it.
Given the Q8’s “coupe-like” design, it’s hard to imagine how Audi has managed to come up with enough space for the passengers. But then it could also be because of its long wheelbase that measures 3.0 metres. Either way, the cabin space looks very impressive.
The Q8’s powertrain uses a lithium battery with 104 prismatic cells. This battery pack comes with a 17.9kWh capacity by up to 37 miles electric range or a total of 621 miles of range. Though still a concept model, the Q8 has employed the production drive system’s hybrid technologies. In fact, Audi has equipped the coupe-SUV with a 443hp 3.0-litre turbocharged engine, electric motor and 8-speed automatic gearbox. As a result, the 516.3lb-ft of torque Audi Q8 can accelerate from 0-62mph in under 5.2 seconds with a top speed of up to 155mph.Read the entire article 2017 NAIAS: Audi Q8 Concept steals the show
In 2015, Audi announced that it plans to launch in 2019 its new Q8 flagship SUV, as part of its plans to provide a solid foundation for its growth path. Now, Audi is inching closer to that plan as it disclosed its intentions to unveil a concept of the Q8 SUV at the upcoming 2017 North American International Auto Show (a.k.a. Detroit Auto Show) on January 9 to 22.
According to the German premium carmaker, the Audi Q8 Concept is a near-production study representing a fusion of the emotional styling of a coupé and the roominess of an SUV. The carmaker said the Audi Q8 concept would be a key to a new segment in the full-size SUV category.
So far, Audi has provided two official renders of the new Audi Q8 concept – one showing the front end while the other parades the side profile (although it is a bit shadowy) of the SUV prototype. These two renderings are aimed at spicing things up and increasing the excitement leading up to the official unveiling of the Audi Q8 concept at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.Read the entire article Audi Q8 Concept debuts at 2017 Detroit Auto Show
Last week we told you that the Tesla Model X all-electric crossover will arrive in early 2015. Tesla’s electric crossover was not a secret as the first prototype was unveiled back in 2012. It appears that the first carmaker to offer an alternative to the Model X will be Audi, who is planning an electric version of the upcoming Q8 SUV.
This model will be a direct rival to the Tesla Model X and according to Reuters it will offer an electric range of about 400 km or 248 miles. We don’t have a clue regarding the range of the Tesla Model X, but we do know that the Model S offers a maximum range of 426 km or 265 miles.
According to Hanover-bases NordLB analyst Frank Schwope, the news about an electric crossover from Audi is not surprising as all German major carmakers have their electric-car plans ready in the drawer because they want tot be prepared when the demand accelerates.Read the entire article Audi planning an electric version of a new Q8 SUV to take on Tesla Model X
According to the latest reports from Autocar, it appears that Audi is working on an all-electric version of the Q8 sports SUV. Apparently, this vehicle has been approved for production and will be a direct rival to the Tesla Model X.
Audi will use the electric powertrain technology and battery from the upcoming R8 e-tron electric supercar and the German company targets a range of 370 miles or 595 km. Still, the electric Q8 will not be seen before 2017. Tesla will introduce the Model X later this year. Just like the Model X, the Q8 e-Tron will have electric motors driving the front and rear wheels. Moreover, the Audi Q8 e-Tron will carry a large battery pack, at least equal to the 80 kWh pack used by Tesla on the Model X.
Still, Audi will also offer petrol and diesel engines, but also a plug-in hybrid powertrain in the Q8. Furthermore, the SQ8 high-performance version is also planned. As expected, the Q8 will be based on the next-generation Audi Q7 SUV, which will be unveiled later this year.Read the entire article Audi prepares the Q8 e-Tron to fight the Tesla Model X
Large wheels, low ground clearance, sophisticated aerodynamics and a sporty yet elegant design. These are the words that perfectly describe the upcoming Audi Q8. According to German magazine AutoBild, Audi will introduce in 2015 a Q8 Coupe, a vehicle based on the next-generation Q7, that will take on cars such as the Bmw X7 or the Mercedes-Benz GL Coupe.
Audi will offer a splendid automobile featuring a striking design consisting of an updated front grille, redesigned LED lights, flared wings and futuristic taillights. Comparing it with the new Q7, the Q8 will be positioned higher and despite its size it will be an elegant vehicle. If the Q7 successor will offer a four-cylinder gasoline engine, the upcoming Q8 will probably ditch the powerplant as Audi wants to offer a more expensive third-row SUV.
Still, the Audi Q8 might receive the four-cylinder engine but only in the hybrid version. The well-known 3.0-liter V6 diesel and petrol engine will be the most popular choices on the Q8, but Audi will also offer a mower powerful V8 petrol engine with around 435 hp. Moreover, a V8 diesel engine will be available, developing around 400 hp. All Audi Q8 models will be offered as standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission.Read the entire article Audi Q8 Coupe will be introduced in 2015
Audi has filed papers in order to protect the trademark of its new car models in Europe. Its seven new car names will enter the very competitive market in this region as part of a plan to be the biggest luxury automaker in the world. The seven names include Q6, Q8, R6, S2, S9, RS1 and RS8. These cars, just like the cars such as the Q6, have been known to exist but these are still in their testing stages for now, while others like the S9 are not even being considered yet.
It’s likely that the R6, a variant of Audi’s mid-engine super car the R8, will likely ride on a smaller platform and would be cheaper too. Q6 and Q8 are the brand’s newest, with Q6 being launched to go up against BMW’s X6 crossover. The Q8 is being positioned as the biggest, most luxurious SUV in Audi’s lineup. The names S2 and S9 imply that the brand will present two more cars into the lineup, to be named A2 and A9.
The S2 and S9 will be the sports performance version of these cars. It was also rumoured that there would be a model positioned higher than the current flagship A8. The use of the S2 name implies a vehicle that’s exciting and offers an impressive performance. Recently, the small hot hatch, the RS1, was spotted. It’s possible that it won’t have a traditional non-performance version.Read the entire article Audi trademarks new nameplates: Q6, Q8, R6, S2, S9, RS1 and RS8
