Finally, Audi Sport takes the cover off the R8 V10 RWS at the dawn of 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The long awaited rear-wheel drive R8 is here, and as the newest addition to the supercar's range, the automaker decided to only produce 999 units of the Coupe and the Spyder trims.
For the R8 V10 RWS, Audi had to get rid of the Quattro system to give way to the RWD layout, though the naturally aspirated V10 remains intact. Now, without the Quattro, the R8 loses as much as 50 kilograms (110 pounds) for the fixed roof model, while the droptop only loses 40 kilos (88 pounds). The 5.2 FSI V10 engine is mounted on the middle, where it produces the same 540 horsepower (397 kilowatts) and 540 Newton-metres (398 pound-feet) of torque as the all-wheel drive version of the R8. This is why the RWD version lacks the rear wing of the more powerful Plus model. The R8 is better known for an extreme track day more than just cruising around Beverly Hills.
In terms of performance, the Coupe version can accelerate from a standstill to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in only 3.7 seconds - that makes it two tenths of a second faster than the R8 with the Quattro system. The Spyder, on the other hand, can finish the task in 3.8 seconds, considering that it is slightly heavier. It is still 0.2 seconds faster than its AWD sibling. A lot of us are very excited for the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show scheduled to take place in a few weeks. We’re all psyched up to see what cars will debut, which concepts we will see, and what surprises will be in store for us. Here is one thing though, reports suggest that Audi may have something very exciting for the IAA. It’s perfectly timed too as this show is organized to happen only once every two years, alternating with the Paris Motor Show.
There have been earlier news which said that Audi will finally be introducing the production version of the RS4 Avant as a replacement for the RS5 Coupe. Both models come with the same biturbocharged 2.9 liter V6 engine, giving out as much as 450 horsepower and 443 pound feet (600 Newton metres) of torque, paired with an eight speed automatic that gives power to the Quattro all-wheel-drive setup - just like the first ever RS5 Sportback.
Since they will be carrying the same engine, expect the RS4 Avant to perform just like its two-door sibling, except it might take a little longer when doing the 0 to 62 mile per hour sprint) 100 kilometers per hour because of its weight. The RS5 Coupe does the sprint in 3.9 seconds, so the RS4 Avant may hit 62 mph in 4 or 4.1 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 155 miles per hour (250 kilometers per hour). Honda is showcasing the retro-inspired EV concept in Germany’s 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show which will last until September 24. The retro styled city car, which is also the Japanese car brand’s first production EV for the European market, is featuring a funky design with two rounded headlights akin to the hatchbacks from the seventies and eighties.
Beyond the wide-eyed front fascia and small dimensions comes a deep muscular stance that not only provides the Urban EV with sporty driving capability but also make it more stable for its size. If compared with the Honda Jazz supermini, the Urban concept will come out 100m shorter with its current length of 3,895mm.
Inside, the cabin features a wind screen with some thin A-pillars for better visibility and a couple of bench seats to make room for up to four occupants. There is also a large dashboard with wood veneer as well as a screen that wraps around the dash that goes throughout the hatchback’s two main doors. Around two weeks after Porsche unveiled the third generation of the Porsche Cayenne in Stuttgart, Germany, the sports car maker has taken the wraps off the turbo version of the sporty mid-sized SUV around 140 miles to the north in Frankfurt – the new 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
Simply speaking, the new generation of the Cayenne Turbo is Porsche’s mid-sized SUV on steroids. Compared to the next-gen Cayenne and Cayenne that were recently unveiled, the Cayenne Turbo represents a big boost in power. The 2019 Cayenne is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine delivering 340 horsepower of max output and 332 pound-feet of torque, allowing the base Porsche mid-size SUV to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
The Cayenne S, meanwhile, employs a bi-turbo 2.9-liter V6 mill delivering up to 440 hp of output and up to 406 lb.-ft. of torque – good for a 0-100 km/h dash of 4.9 seconds. Clearly, Renault is way ahead of many automakers with their all new Symbioz Concept. The concept isn’t intended for this year or the next as it’s targeted to be ready by 2030.

Brabus has unveiled the Ultimate E Concept in Germany, an extremely styled Smart ForTwo Coupe equipped with a transverse electric motor, a type of layout in which the electric motor is installed right behind the vehicle’s rear axle.
The environment friendly city car is wearing the Brabus Widestar body kit, a sporty package exclusively developed for Brabus Ultimate models featuring wide fenders, Monoblock Y Wheels and 18-inch wide base tires. Currently on exhibit at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Ultimate E concept in bright yellow body paint has also received a specially developed Brabus suspension and aerodynamic parts such as the wind-tunnel developed spoiler with rear diffuser and rocker panels also aerodynamically enhanced using the same technology.

Mercedes-Benz has been planning on extending their full lineup of electric cars, and this time, it is the new EQ A Concept that they have just unveiled for a futuristic three-door hatchback. As seen at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the EQ A is even smaller than the Vision EQ ForTwo Concept that is great for future car-sharing fleets.
Similar to other Mercedes-Benz EQ concepts, the EQ A has a smooth, rounded shape. It is slightly different with its round nose with short overhangs that lead to a steeply raked windshield and flowing roof that goes over the hatch. Overall, it definitely looks like it has come from the future.
New upgrades had been added to the EQ A such as high-tech bits and pieces. For instance, it was designed with an adaptive grille instead of the conventional ones we often see, and this even reflects the car's driving modes. For instance, when on Sport mode, the grille draws a horizontal blue line to indicate this. On Sport Plus mode, the image on the Panamericana grille switches to vertical red slats instead. The long-awaited 2018 Renault Megane RS has finally made its way to the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, after having been the subject of several spy photos and leaks. The Megane RS is definitely among the most-liked C-segment hot hatches as it comes with a number of technologies – including a turbo gasoline engine with two new transmission options.
It comes equipped with a 1.8-liter turbocharged gas motor with direct injection, like the one in the Alpine A110 sports car, instead of the older 2.0-liter turbo. This engine works with either a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission that includes paddle shifter and launch control, giving power to the front wheels. All this enables the Megane RS to carry out as much as 280 horsepower (205 kilowatts). It will also come with standard 355mm front discs with Brembo calipers that customers can swap for optional bi-material cast iron and aluminum discs.
But that’s not all that it can do, as customers can opt for the Megane RS Trophy version that should be out before 2019. This variant will have a little more power, giving out 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts). BMW is presenting at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show a new concept that allows the public to see a more immediate future of electric mobility, as interpreted by the German premium carmaker. This new concept – the BMW i Vision Dynamics – intends to show that the future of electric mobility has already arrived at the BMW Group, according to Harald Kruger, Chairman of the Board of Management at BMW AG.
While BMW’s NEXT 100 vehicles presented in 2016 dwell more into the far future of mobility, the BMW i Vision Dynamics looks into what will arrive a few years from now. As intended, the new BMW i Vision Dynamics is a dynamic and progressive, four-door Gran Coupe that envisions future electric mobility between the BMW i3 and BMW i8. Kruger noted that the BMW i Vision Dynamics concept envisages how the carmaker partly plans to carry out its NUMBER ONE > NEXT strategy, which in part entails offering 25 electrified models – 12 of which will be all-electric – by 2025.

While Mercedes-Benz, through its AMG unit, is toying with its Project One hypercar, it has unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show the newest and cleaner addition to its S-Class model range – the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560e next-generation plug-in hybrid.
Meant to replace the S500e plug-in hybrid of the pre-Facelift S-Class, the new Mercedes S560e boasts of having more power and being able to travel longer distances. These capabilities are centered on the S560e’s more dynamic hybrid drive system that employs a more powerful V6 engine and electric motor as well as a higher capacity lithium-ion battery.
The hybrid system that propels the new Mercedes S560e makes use of a 3.0-liter V6 engine that delivers 270 kW (367 hp) of max output and 500 Nm (369 lb.-ft) of peak torque. For other vehicles, this amount of power is already enough, but Mercedes has adjudged that this conventional mill wasn’t enough to make the S560e not just powerful, but also efficient. Porsche is boosting the appeal of its new Porsche 911 GT3 sports car by unveiling a Touring Package at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). The new 911 GT3 with Touring Package is simply the adoption and modernization of a concept that dates back to the touring variant 1973 911 Carrera RS. Now, the 911 GT3 with Touring Package is targeted towards the customer who places a great value on classic driving enjoyment with understated looks.
Compared to the standard 911 GT3, the version with the Touring Package features a body that is basically the same, saved for the rear end where the fixed rear wing has been replaced by a variable rear spoiler like on the 911 Carrera. This variable rear spoiler features an additional aerodynamic tear-off edge – also known as Gurney flap – in body color. The “GT3 touring” logo could be found on the rear lid grille. The rear end of the new 911 GT3 with Touring Package also reveals sports exhaust system tailpipes, silver-colored side window strips, headlight washer system covers and the Porsche logo.
Nevertheless, the 911 GT3 with Touring Package remains a high-performance sports car. The front end still features the large air intakes while luggage compartment lid is marked by an air outlet in front. In addition, both the front and rear lights of the 911 GT3 with Touring Package are the same as those on its standard sibling, although the ones on the new variant don’t feature dark tints. As designed, the new Audi Aicon is a 2+2 technology show car that measures 5,444 mm (17.9 ft.) in length, 2,100 mm (6.9 ft.) in width and 1,506 mm (4.9 ft.) in height, with a wheelbase of 3,470 mm (11.4 ft.). The focus of the new Aicon is to provide a spacious and functional cabin where passengers transitions from the point of departure to the destination – all done autonomously. The new Aicon is capable of Level 5 autonomy, which means that it employs a fully-autonomous system that is good enough to replace a human driver in any driving situation or condition. The autonomy level of the new Aicon is determined to be good enough to pull up to a charging station on its own in an AI Zone and recharge its battery sans human intervention.
The interior of the Aicon has been designed to resemble that of a first-class airline cabin – spacious, comfortable and luxurious. To achieve a great sense of space, the Aicon is provided with large glass surfaces both at the front and rear as well as with convex side windows. The side windows feature a hard line running along them from the A-pillar to the D-pillar, thereby helping accentuate the Aicon’s length.
