2018 Audi RS 3 Sedan to arrive in the North America in summer with $54,900 price tag

The long wait is over for those who have been waiting for the new Audi RS 3 Sedan to come to the United States. This is because German premium carmaker Audi is officially bringing its new Audi RS 3 to North American soil, as a 2018 model year. To announce and mark its American debut, the new Audi RS 3 will be on display for the public to view at the 2017 New York International Auto Show.

Considered as the most dynamic A3 model so far, the Audi RS 3 is the first compact sedan to bear the RS name. Its dynamism applies both to its appearance and performance, while it retains the elegance and luxury that the Audi marque has been known for. As the ultimate sporty iteration of the A3 sedan, it is definitely athletic in character. This is defined by the three-dimensional honeycomb Singleframe grille with four rings logo and a blade covering the whole width of the front and then extending to the side air inlets. This blade forms thin funnels that guide the airflow to the wheel arches, which have wider flares to accommodate a front track that is 0.8 inches wider. The front end of the new RS 3 is marked by LED headlights with daytime running lights, although matrix LED units could be availed.

The new Audi RS 3 is powered by new five-cylinder 2.5 TFSI engine that delivers 400 hp (294 kW) of max output -- or around 33 hp more than its predecessor – as well as 354 lb.-ft. (480 Nm) of peak torque available between 1,700 and 5,850 rpm. This power is sent to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive through the S tronic seven-speed dual clutch transmission. In this set-up, the new Audi RS 3 could sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.1 seconds and achieve an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), which could be increased upon request to 280 km/h (174 mph).

Audi shows off the new RS3 Sedan at the 2016 Paris Motor Show

Audi has debuted the Audi RS3 Sedan at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Its most dynamic A3 model ever, the Audi RS3 has a 400 horsepower engine, top-notch efficiency and a more focused look. This is also the first compact sedan to take on the RS name.

The five-cylinder 2.5 TFSI gives you 294 kW or 400 hp of power. That is effectively 33 hp more powerful than the previous model’s engine, and is now the most potent five-cylinder available globally.

It delivers 480 Nm of torque at speeds of up to 5,850 rpm. The Audi RS3 goes from standstill to 100 km/h in only 4.1 seconds and can rev up to 250 km/h. If you want to, the carmaker can attain top speeds of 280 km/h.

Next-generation Audi RS3 Sportback will stick to the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine

Although we expected a 2.0-liter TFSI for the next-generation Audi RS3 Sportback, it appears that the German company decided to keep the 2.5-liter five-cylinder powerplant used by the current engine. Based on the MQB platform, the new RS3 Sportback will be 55 kg lighter and will use reengineered springs and dampers.

Moreover, the new sports car will be 25 mm closer to the ground when compared with the S3 and will arrive with a wider track and optional wider front tires. According to Quattro boss Stephan Reil, the 2.5-liter engine will deliver around 360 hp and power will be delivered through a permanent all-wheel drive system through the standard seven-speed S tronic transmission.

As a result, the new RS3 will be capable to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 4.0 seconds. For those who don’t know, the current Audi RS3 Sportback uses the 2.5-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine that generates 340 hp (250 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque.

Audi unveiled the first RS3 Sportback back in November 2010 but we can’t say that the vehicle was a bestseller. That’s why Audi will follow a new strategy and according to Audi of America president Scott Keogh, the next-generation RS3 will arrive as a sedan. Of course, this is not quite a secret as earlier this year the German manufacturer unveiled at the 2014 Worthersee the A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept.

Based on the S3 Sedan, the concept car was powered by a 2.5-liter TFSI petrole engine that delivered 525 hp (386 kW) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque available between 2,300 and 6,000 rpm.

Besides the powerful, the concept car came with an impressive design consisting of a new front bumper with large air intakes, a rear bumper with a stylish air diffuser, oval tailpipes and 21-inch alloy wheels.

At the 2014 Worthersee Meeting in Reifniz (Karten) from May 28-31, Audi will bring the A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept. If you ask us, this new concept car actually previews the new Audi RS3 Sedan, but for the moment we don’t have any official details. The dramatic new A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept is based on the S3 Sedan but comes with a 2.5-liter TFSI engine found on the RS Q3.

The engine delivers an impressive 525 hp (386 kW) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque, available between 2,300 and 6,000 rpm. With these numbers, the A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.6 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited at 310 km/h or 192.6 mph.

In order to achieve these performances, the concept car suffered extensive modifications as Audi added a larger turbocharger with up to 1.5 bar of relative boost pressure as well as a modified intercooler. Compared with the standard S3 Sedan, the A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept is 10 mm lowers. Moreover, the concept comes with big 21-inch alloy wheels, while behind them we find 370 mm brake discs (front).

Audi will reveal the new four-door S3 this April at the Shanghai motor show, cementing its commitment as the first German automaker to build a compact performance saloon. Audi revealed a preview of the S3 saloon – the A3 saloon concept -- at the 2011 Geneva motor show. Audi developed the model to boost its already impressive standing in the profitable Chinese car market and offer an additional sales pillar for its US operations.

S3 saloon will be powered by the 296bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre engine and four-wheel drive underpinnings that are also used on the newly unveiled S3 hatchback. It is slated to start selling in the UK in late 2013, with a price tag of about £33,000. On whether an even more striking RS3 saloon will join the lineup, Audi insiders won’t confirm but they would say that it’s not a top priority for now.

An Audi spokesman said that this type of car would be exciting but is not essential. When Audi first introduced the concept version in Geneva, Audi’s new price-leading saloon displayed a highly tuned version of its turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder petrol engine, with an output of 402bhp and 369lb ft of torque.

As you may know already, Audi is working hard on the TT RS Plus, an even faster version of the well-known sports car but it appears that this is not the only surprise that the German manufacturer has for us. We already know that the TT RS uses the same engine as the RS3 Sportback and just like the small coupe and cabrio, the sportback will also get the Plus Pacakge.

That’s right folks, the Audi RS3 Plus is coming and will offer 360 hp. The standard Audi RS3 Sportback is powered by the 2.5-liter TFSI engine delivering 250 kW (340 hp) and a maximum torque of 450 Nm (331.90 lb-ft).

The vehicle is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h (155.34 mph). Despite the impressive performances, the Audi RS3 Sportback has a fuel consumption of just 9.1 liters of fuel per 100 km (25.85 US mpg) and emits 212 g CO2 per km (341.18 g/mile).
