If you think you’re all ready for the new 2018 Audi S4 sedan when it arrives in the United States this spring, then better make sure that your pockets are deep enough so you can get your very own performance laden version of the A4. After all, you would need at least $51,875 ($50,900 Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price for the Premium Plus trim plus $975 destination charge) to be able to own one of the upcoming Audi S4 units.

Helping emphasize the performance dynamics of the new S4 are its powerful wheel arches as accentuated by sedan’s wrap-around lines. Likewise, the sporty and performance-laden nature of the new Audi S4 is marked by its Platinum Gray Singleframe grille with aluminum-optic double blade bars, a rear trunk lid lip spoiler and aluminum-optic exterior side mirror housings as well as S model-specific features.

As standard exterior features, the new 2018 Audi S4 is provided with full LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights with dynamic turn signals and auto-dimming, power folding, heated exterior mirrors, as well as 18-inch five-double-spoke-star design wheels wrapped with standard summer tires. ABT Sportsline tweaks 2017 Audi S4 Avant to deliver 425 PS of output and 550 Nm of torque

Audi’s S4 Avant isn’t the premium luxury car you’re used to hearing about. While it may have an understated look, the Audi S4 Avant does feature a powerful engine that is complemented by an array of advanced technologies. But if you want more, you could go and visit ABT Sportsline, which is offering a unique package that breaks the current dynamic limits of the present S4 Avant.

The current Audi S4 Avant is powered by a new turbocharged V6 TFSI engine, replacing the supercharged unit of its predecessors. Serving as the core of the S4 Avant is a recently developed turbocharged V6 engine with petrol direct injection. This 3.0 TFSI V6 powerplant is tuned to deliver 354 PS (349 hp) of max output and 500 Nm (368.8 lb.-ft.) of peak torque available in broad range of engine speeds ranging from 1,300 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Compared to its predecessor, the new turbocharged V6 TFSI engine is more powerful while being lighter and more fuel-efficient. This allows the Audi S4 to dash from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.7 seconds and to reach a top speed that’s electronically limited at 155 mph (250 km/h).

ABT Sportsline, however, thinks that the Audi S4 Avant isn’t powerful and quick enough with its 354 PS of output, 550 Nm of torque and 4.7 seconds of zero-to-62 mph sprint time. This is why the tuner from Germany is kind enough to create a new package that would bump up the performance level of the Audi S4 Avant’s 3.0-liter TFSI V6 petrol engine. This new performance package is designed to increase the max output level of the Audi S4 Avant 354 PS (349 hp) to 425 PS (419 hp). In addition, ABT Sportsline’s new performance package is able to hike the amount of peak torque that the V6 engine could produce from 500 Nm (368.8 lb.-ft.) to 550 Nm (406 lb.-ft.).

2016 Audi S4 and S4 Avant arrive at Frankfurt Motor Show

German premium carmaker Audi has unveiled two new series-topping A4 models at the Frankfurt motor show – the MY2016 S4 and the S4 Avant sedans. Both the all-new S4 and the S4 Avant feature powerful engines at its core backed by an array of latest technologies.

Likewise, the MY2016 S4 and S4 Avant are fitted with intelligent lightweight design and a number of driver assistance systems. For instance, the sedans’ predictive efficiency assistant helps the driver save fuel through certain actions such as gear change prompts.

Meanwhile, the Stop&Go adaptive cruise control along with traffic jam assist could help ease a driver’s stress during heavy traffic by taking over acceleration, deceleration, and steering up to 65 km/h (40.4 mph).

Audi no longer offering 6-speed manual transmission for S4/S5 models in Europe, U.S. still gets them

Audi seems to be dropping manual transmissions for the facelifted S4 and S5 that will come out next year. Some interested buyers have said that they couldn’t get a manual transmission for the 3.0 TDI A5 Sportback. The lack of manual gearboxes for S4 and S5 on the latest configurator at is also noticeable.

While S-tronic (DSG) transmissions offer quicker shifting, better fuel economy and faster straight line performance, it doesn’t mean that the manual transmission doesn’t have a place in the industry.

That’s because enthusiasts choose the manual because it offers an engaging feel during driving. Many consider it a proper right of passage for a beginner to learn to row the gears while matching the revs.

Now on its eighth generation, the A4 has been Audi’s bestselling model for the past 39 years. In total, about 10 million units of the A4 have been sold. It is not surprising then to know that the A4 remains to be the flagship car of the brand. Even with the current elegance, emotional appeal, and sportiness of the A4, Audi took it a step further and gave the A4 series an update.

In addition to the new appealing design, it also upgraded the driving dynamics, efficiency, and infotainment. All these are evidence of the “Vorsprung durch Technik” that has been achieved by the A4. The upgrade was done and is seen in all the models of the A4 that include the Avant, all-road Quattro, saloon, and S4.

Both the Avant and Saloon variants use the 3.0 TFSI engine that has a power output of 333PS and maximum torque of 440 Nm or about 324.53 lb.-ft. In particular, the engine when used on the Saloon has a 35.3 mpg rating yet can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 5 seconds.

Instead of using a 3.6 liter naturally aspirated V6 engine, the Porsche Cayenne that's meant for the Chinese market will use a supercharged 3.0 liter V6 powerplant from the Audi S4. This means that finally, the analysts's prediction of China-destined cars to be better vehicles than those meant for the other parts of the world have come true.

Porsche is making this move because of a tax legislation that's related to the engine capacity of the car. If the 3.6-liter engine is used, this would put the SUV in the 3 to 4 liters category, making it get to a 40% tax level. But with the 3.0-liter engine from the S4, the Cayenne would fall under the 3 liter limit, reducing the taxes to 25%.

What this ultimately means is that the Chinese customers will receive a more advanced machine but with a higher tax reduction. They get a car that offers enhanced driveability as well as more horsepower and torque.

MTM had given the engines of the 2010 Audi S4 Avant and Audi S5 Cabrio the special treatment. The engine expert based in Wettstetten, Germany, was able to give the power a considerable boost by installing its approved control device M-Cantronic.

These two cars, which are both powered by the 3.0 TFSI engine, became powerful sports cars with an impressive power reserve. With this power boost, the MTM S4 became a real contender to be the successor of the Audi RS4. In fact, the V8 of the existing RS4 back in 2009 had only a 10 bhp advantage over the MTM S4.

Aside from the engine control device M-Cantronic, MTM also gave the series production car S4 a set of 4 rear pipes silencers with throttle valves. The result was an impressive 430 bhp (317 kW), 515 Nm of torque, and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.6 seconds with the 6 speeds manual gearbox.

Sportec’s move to use a sports air filter and a newly programmed engine control in a 2010 Audi S4 Avant prodded the vehicle to get over the 400 PS mark with its 333 compressor-PS. The Swiss tuner applied its techniques to push the vehicle to get a full 425 PS rather than the standard 333 PS from its three litre V6 compressor.

Revising its electronics raised its torque to its maximum. So instead of 440, the maximum has been increased to 520 Nm. This boost is significant in the driving dynamics. The standard Audi S4 is capable of accelerating from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds but the Sportec RS425 can do this in only 5.2 seconds.

Top speed is unchanged as it is electronically limited at 250 km/h. But Sportec made other upgrades too. The vehicle was given a special sports silencer with four end pipes as there will be two pairs on either side. These generate a sportier sound. Braking power is assured with a braking system on the front axles that has been enlarged to 380 millimetres.

The next generation of the Audi S5 Coupe will be the recipient of Audi's wide-ranging use of aluminum and other light materials in its construction of its models. Because of this, the next-gen 2014 S5 will cut its weight by up to 880 lbs (399 kg) in contrast to the current version.

Although there are other factors that certainly contributed to this amazing weight loss for the next generation of the Audi S5 Coupe, the main factor here, however, is the lightweight body construction and the size of the powerplant.

For instance, the present Audi TT chassis is made up of 69 percent aluminum, while the succeeding model year 2012 Audi A6 will come with a higher percentage of lightweight materials in its body construction. The succeeding A4 and A5/S5 versions will likewise come with more aluminum in their design structures.

A lot of fanfare greeted Audi when it presented the Audi S4 and the Audi S4 Avant – its sporty top models in the midsize class – back in 2008. Audi equipped these vehicles with a three-liter V6 engine with direct fuel injection and mechanical turbocharging, generating an impressive 245 kW (333 hp). With this engine, the Audi S4 was capable of going from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in only 5.1 seconds.

It uses just 9.7 liters of fuel per 100 km (24.25 US mpg) on average. It is equipped with a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. Power is then converted by the sport suspension into dynamic handling. Audi accepted requests from its customers for the new Audi S4 and S4 Avant with regards to innovative technologies that made the vehicles superior over its rivals. Changing the gears on the seven-speed S tronic is accomplished with lightning speed.

In addition, the new sport differential is capable of distributing the torque when necessary between the rear wheels. The unveiling of the Audi S4 will be made on October 2 at the Paris Auto Show.
