2015 Audi S6 Sedan and S6 Avant get a facelift too

Earlier today we talked about the 2015 A6 Sedan / Avant Facelift as well as by the 2015 A6 Allroad Quattro Facelift, but we didn’t tell you folks anything about the new S6, S6 Avant and RS6 Avant models. As expected, these models also receive the new headlights that are available as an option with LED or matrix LED technology, as well as with redesigned LED design for the taillights.

The S6 and S6 Avant are powered by the same 4.0-liter TFSI biturbo V8 engine that delivers 450 hp (331 kW) and 550 Nm of torque. The V8 engine pushes the 2016 Audi S6 Facelift from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds, while the S6 Avant Facelift needs 4.6 seconds to achieve the same speed, while top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h or 155 mph.

Despite these impressive performances, the average fuel consumption is just 9.2 liters per 100 km (25.6 US mpg) in the Sedan and 9.4 liters (25.0 US mpg) in the Avant. CO2 emissions are 214 g/km in the Sedan and 219 g/km in the Avant. According to Audi, the impressive fuel consumption is achieved thanks to the cylinder on demand (COD) system, able to activate four of the eight cylinders when under part load.

Video: Audi releases its 2013 S6 Super Bowl commercial

Audi released its 2013 S6 commercial for the Super Bowl ahead of the big game but viewers have become even more excited since they get to choose which of the three possible endings will eventually air on the day of the game.

The ad begins with a sad teen who is preparing to attend the prom without a date. His father then gives him the keys to a brand-new 2013 Audi S6 with the 420-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 in order to cheer him up. The teen gets so much confidence from driving this incredible car that he enters the prom and gives the prom queen a big kiss. Of course, the prom king won’t have any of it and so he gave the hero a black eye.

Audi is giving viewers three options, which all later show the hero driving away in the S6 with his black eye. The first option titled “Worth It” shows the teen driving away, shouting victoriously. The second option dubbed “Buddies” shows the teen with his friends in the Audi. They’re all getting very excited and saying, “I can’t believe that just happened.

2012 Audi S6/S6 Avant: full details, photos and specs

Audi has announced its plan to remake the sports cars, the S6 and S6 Avant, which are both for daily use and are very practical. Audi will use a new engine -- a four-liter, twin-turbo V8 – that offers sufficient power but with low fuel consumption. The 309 kW (420 hp) version of the new 4.0 TFSI will be used by the S6 and S6 Avant.

The twin-turbo V8 offers a constant 550 Nm (405.66 lb-ft) of torque from 1,400 to 5,300 rpm. As a result, the S6 can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 4.8 seconds and the S6 Avant can accomplish this in 4.9 seconds. These two models have an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph). The use of the 4.0 TFSI means that Audi's downsizing strategy has been brought to the high-performance class.

The 4.0 TFSI is sportier than the 5.2-liter V10 used in the previous model. Its fuel consumption is also lower by up to 25%. In the S6, it has an average fuel consumption of only 9.7 liters per 100 km (24.25 US mpg). In the S6 Avant, it is rated at 9.8 liters (24.0 US mpg). The impressive fuel efficiency is attributed to the recuperation and start-stop systems, together with the new "cylinder on demand" cylinder management system.

2012 Audi S6, S6 Avant, S7 and S8 unveiled ahead of 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show

Audi and Bentley have jointly developed a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 direct-injection engine that will be powering four of Audi all-wheel-drive S models at the Frankfurt Motor Show. These new S models include the successors to the S8, S7 and S6 sedans and the S6 Avant. All these models, except for the S6 Avant, will arrive in the U.S.

These models are expected to be launched in the late spring of 2012. The S8 replaces the predecessor’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 with the most powerful version of Audi's twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine. It can reach peak power of as high as 512 hp, with torque raised to 479 pounds-feet.

The boost in reserves is distributed to all four wheels via a specially adapted eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox that aids automatic stop/start and brake-energy recuperation. The sedan can go from zero to 62mph in only 4.2 seconds and it has a limited maximum speed of 155mph, similar to all of Audi's new S models.
