Audi Sport Performance Parts R8 is an R8 V10 plus with less weight and more downforce

The Audi R8 isn't your ordinary car. Bred with motorsport DNA, the R8 is a supercar that promises to fulfill the performance cravings of many. Now, Audi is introducing the most capable and most focused Audi R8 model to date – the Audi Sport Performance Parts R8.

This special edition is essentially an Audi R8 V10 plus Coupe draped with the full Audi Sport Performance Parts package. Through the new Audi Sport Performance Parts R8, the German premium carmaker wants to prove that performance isn’t just a function of power, but is also achieved through aerodynamic enhancements and lower weight.

As for power, the new Audi Sport Performance Parts R8 features the same engine as the Audi R8 V10 plus Coupe – a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 engine that delivers 610 PS (602 hp) of max output and 413 lb.-ft. of peak torque available at 6,500 rpm. While having the same power at hand with the R8 V10 plus Coupe, the new Audi Sport Performance Parts R8 offers greater performance by increasing the amount of generated downforce and by chopping off some weight from the already light base car.

Audi R8 V10 Plus with performance parts is built to impress

Audi R8 is definitely a much loved car by the market, and we really are dreading the day it will retire. To be honest, we think that the second generation model might not have the same impact as the older 2006 model, but this model is actually even more desirable with all the right boxes ticked, and its remarkable list of extra trinkets.

The said model is currently on display at Audi Forum Neckarsulm, and is dressed in an Ara Blue shade, while fitted with an assortment of optional goodies added from the Performance Parts catalog that was launched by Audi Sport in summer 2017, particularly for the R8 as well as its baby, the TT RS. In fact, after all the added features of this model, you might think that it has already lost its road legal statues. That’s because physically, it looks similar to the track-ready R8 LMS GT4 launched towards the end of last year.

Aside from its aerodynamic body kit and the front bumper canards, customers can opt to add two or three way coilover suspension. As seen in the photos, the 20 inch black milled wheels pictures here cut down some of its weight by 17.6 pounds (8 kilos). There wheels are then wrapped in 245/30 R20 front and 305/30 R20 rear tires.

TT and R8 will be getting new Audi Sport Performance Parts

June 11 is an important date for Audi and its enthusiasts. You have all probably heard something about the 2018 Audi A8 (D5) that people have been anticipating for the longest time. Though the A8 took the spotlight that day, the company also announced some pretty exciting things for other models in their lineup.

Audi Sport will be adding a number of Performance Parts the current TT and the R8 models. These upgrades range from exterior and interior design, to the suspension and exhaust system. The great thing about this is that you can just hand over your current ride, and they’ll do the work for you; there is no need to buy a new car.

One of the few upgrades would be the new sport brake linings that are of better quality compared to the original ones, they take longer to fade and can work with both the steel and ceramic brakes. These linings will be paired with titanium carrying plates, which will reduce about 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram). For the TT RS, the company can fit in steel front brake discs with your choice of cooling kits - all of them are compatible with the standard trim, and the higher TTS and TT RS trims.
