BAC Mono grasps victory at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb

At the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, we witnessed a number of awesome cars, major debuts, and some crazy crashes. That’s what makes it an exciting event. But in the end, it’s all about performance where people compete for the fastest lap at the hill - hence, the event name.

In this event, there are two main categories namely: the Supercars and the smaller Race Cars for the Road. Beginning with the latter, for this year’s race, the Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) Mono took home the victory with an impressive 49.54-second lap time. The Caterham Seven 620R came in second with 50.01 seconds, while in third place with 50.83 seconds is the Radical RXC Turbo.

Oliver Webb was the test driver behind the wheels of the BAC Mono. He said in an interview that it will always be a close race between them, the Caterham and the Radical. At the same time, he was very happy to top the leaderboard this year. He also said that they pushed the Mono hard, but it reacted well and even finished with a great time.

BAC Mono Art Car steals the show at 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Briggs Automotive Company brings the BAC Mono Art Car at the 2017 Goodwood FoS. Partnering with Autodesk, the team created a sophisticated artwork that bears a resemblance to the Mono sports car’s airflow simulation. The art car, painted in jet black with hints of blue and green at the front and adorned with combinations of red and yellow behind the back, will feature the Autodesk logo all around its body. Those markings will be seen primarily at the exposed carbon fiber fenders, at the spoiler and especially along the left side of the car.

Autodesk made a name for itself in software making within the entertainment, media and automotive industry. As a matter of fact, its CFD software was employed in developing several parts used for the BAC Mono with the help of a 3D model. Since the virtual wind tunnel allowed them to visualize the vehicle’s airflow, it inspired them to create the same visual art for the BAC Mono Art Car.

Because of this, the livery consists of blue stripes that flow along the hood all the way to the tip of the dashboard. To create a “picture” of aerodynamics and airflow, the yellow and red accents instead are seen throughout the rear end of the cockpit.

Isle of Man scores big with newly acquired police car -- the BAC Mono Police Car

The fact is that Ferrari, Lotus or Lamborghini police cars aren't your typical police cars patrolling every city out there, but such sports cars have been joining the police force for years now.

But this particular super car is very different. BAC's open air, track-savvy roadster is the world's first ever Mono police car that can accommodate a single person and is road-legal. We are sure of one thing: nobody will dare to outrun this bad boy, or good boy, in this situation.

Notable British sports car manufacturer, Briggs Automotive Company (BAC), has recently collaborated with the Isle of Man Government to come up with a BAC Mono police car, the first ever supercar from the British manufacturer to be involved in such a duty. The manufacturer said that the world's only single seater, road legal supercar will participate as an active member of the force and will be shown at the local festivals.

In fact, the Marine Edition Mono features a weight of only 580 kg, which allows it to be perfectly loaded on a super yacht.

It comes with a carbon-fiber crane arm that can be used on all yacht crane systems, thereby enabling the super-car to be transported on top of any super-yacht. In developing the chassis of the Marine Edition Mono, BAC appropriately considered the crane arm.
