After the 2018 BMW 6 Series GT’s reveal, we felt as though the Bavarian company received comments that they did not expect to hear from readers and fans. It seems like the latest liftback model did not appeal to many, and so far, the new model has not got a lot of fans. So, X-Tomi Design did a rendering of the 6 Series with an M6 guise, giving it some subtle changes, to make it look more appealing.
First of all, X-Tomi Design gave the M6 GT larger intakes and deeper side sills up in the front fascia. The grille has been given a black trim instead of the silver which makes it appear larger too. There have been several details that have been added such as the carbon fiber roof that make for a sportier design. It also comes with chrome side mirror covers instead of camouflaging it with the rest of the body. The front spoiler and side skirts have been made to look more aggressive, while the suspension has been lowered as well. To finish off the design, the wheels have been made bigger and were blacked out. The darker trims definitely made the 6 Series look more aggressive, and look less of a family car.
Well, I would say that the rendering did give the current model more appeal. With the high contrasts of the blacks and the whites, it definitely got more character as opposed to the original 6 series.Read the entire article Judge for yourself: Is X-Tomi’s M6 GT rendering better than the BMW 6-Series GT?
At BMW, there’s an obvious pattern. The German marque first releases the standard model to various markets and after a few weeks its sportier brother fitted with M Performance Parts will join the line-up. Others commented that the BMW 6 Series GT doesn't deserve the athletic kit, but even the 2 Series Active Tourer was given an M Sport Package, so at this point it is not that impossible that the 6 Series GT will follow suit.
The M Performance Package for the 6 Series was made possible thanks to the German marque's GmbH division that is solely responsible for producing the parts tailored to the recent model. One of the parts is the sporty exhaust system which promises to give a truly significant acoustic and visual dimension, in which the German marque claims that the sportier sound is still appropriate for cruising on the roads.
These words are heavily grounded, so we will have to hear it ourselves to consider it in the first place. The brand new system is paired with a stainless steel silencer and has round tips or trapezoid in chrome ,depending on the driver's chosen model, and these are made available for the 630i and 640i xDrive models. The models that have round designs are given an engraved "M" logo and the others are gifted with "M Performance" etching.Read the entire article 2018 BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo receives sporty M Performance Parts

The Bavarian manufacturer will have the all-new 2018 BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo available in the US this fall exclusively as a BMW 640i xDrive Gran Turismo model.
According to BMW, the all-new 2018 6-Series Gran Turismo (GT) has a starting price of $69,700 plus $995 in Destination and Handling charges.Read the entire article 2018 BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo (GT) to arrive in the US in the fall with starting price of $69,700
Customers like us always want to have options. In fact, the more options, the better. BMW offers a range of vehicles that can provide for everybody’s needs, from sedans, coupes, hatchbacks to convertibles. Although this is a good thing (providing more choices), there is also a downside to this. By having many options, some of your models may do really well while the others may not - especially the ones in between.
Just last month, reports say that the 4 Series Gran Coupe sedan is one of the company’s bestselling cars. Same with the 6 Series, the Gran Coupe makes up over 50 percent of BMW’s total sales, while the Cabrio comes second and the Coupe seems to be the last one that sells. So believe it or not, BMW just put a stop on the production of their 6 Series Coupe. And did you know that they have already stopped production back in February, except the information was not disclosed until now.
According to Road and Track, a BMW spokesperson confirmed that production has ended for the coupe. However, if anyone is interested in this model, it is still available to order in some markets, but not in the United States.Read the entire article BMW stops production of the 6-Series Coupe in the United States
BMW’s latest Grand Tourer variant can finally stand beside Porsche’s range topping Panamera Turbo S, the A7 (Audi’s grand touring luxury sedan) or even a Mercedes-Benz S Class coupe. BMW last week has announced the release of the M Sport Limited Edition. According to the company, the enhancement package will be offered on the 6 Series Gran Coupe, the 6 Series Convertible as well as the 6 Series Coupe.
Other than the existing M badge and aero kits, there are several new optional features that have been made available exclusively for BMW’s 6 Series. Among its exterior upgrades are the new carbon fiber side mirror casings, 20-inch M light alloy wheels with two-color paint scheme, and the latest Sonic Speed Blue Metallic paint.
The M Sport Limited Edition 6 Series interior meanwhile consists of fine-grain Merino leather for the seats courtesy of BMW Individual, the Bavarian automaker’s bespoke division. The seat upholstery will come in two-tone combination of fjord blue and black leather that is only exclusive to the M package.Read the entire article BMW introduces the 6-Series M Sport Limited Edition
While those at BMW don’t admit it, the BMW 5 Series GT has been regarded by many as an ugly piece of mobile machine that is full of premium features. BMW 5 Series GT could be an attempt by BMW to please as many customers as it could, but in the end, it was only able to please a few. While the 5 Series has been the best-sellers among BMW offerings, sales of its Grand Tourer version have been disappointing.
The unfortunate looks of the BMW 5 Series GT could be the main reason why the German premium carmaker is transforming it as the 6 Series GT. In fact, a camouflaged prototype was recently spotted being tested with an M Package, confirming its sporty styling.
Many have been considering the 5 Series GT as BMW’s version of the Pontiac Aztek, which is regarded as one of the greatest failed models in the recent history of automobiles. The unattractiveness of the 5 Series GT could be attributed to the fact that it is ill-shaped and bulky, especially its rear. Though the 5 Series GT also has positive attributes. No one will argue that it is well made, built with high quality materials, and fitted with numerous advanced technologies from BMW.Read the entire article BMW working on the 6-Series GT, the replacement for 5-Series GT
It has been a while since BMW launched the third generation of the BMW 6 Series, both as a coupe and as a convertible. That was way back 2011, and today the BMW 6 Series remains one of the sought-after models in its segment. While we are waiting for the next generation of the BMW 6 Series to arrive, we could feast on a refreshed version of the model for the United States market for the 2018 model year.
Honestly, the 2018 BMW 6 Series – remains as it is. This means customers shouldn’t expect any radical mechanical changes or inner working revisions on the latest version of the BMW 6 Series, which means the Coupe, Convertible and the Gran Coupe. However, BMW has decided to beef up the looks of the 6 Series in a bid to tease customers up before the arrival of the next generation models. Apparently, these cosmetic and equipment tweaks are able – somehow – make the 2018 BMW 6 Series still as appealing that it is still worth the purchase.
These new cosmetic and equipment options are all available for the 2018 versions of the BMW 6 Series Convertible and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe – encompassing sporty modifications to both the interior and the exterior of these refreshed models. For the exterior, the 2018 BMW 6 Series Convertible and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe could be provided with a new M Sport Package that was previously exclusive for the M model.Read the entire article BMW 6 Series gets ready for the 2018MY
In line with the 100th anniversary celebration of BMW Japan, the brand has once again released another limited-edition model which is the BMW 640i Gran Coupe. Specifically however, this new version will be the 12th such model that is part of the brand’s “Celebration Edition”. The new model will be based on the 640i that has been fitted with the M Sport package.
For the general features, it is easy to see that this Exclusive Sport model does not add anything new considering that all of the add-ons put on it can be applied as well on the standard 6 Series Gran Coupe. The body comes in Sapphire Black Metallic with the alloy 20-inch M wheels. There is also the aluminum side window BMW Individual moldings applied in addition to the M Sport body kit.
On the interior, one can observe that an electric sunroof has been fitted as standard. Then there is the Alcantara headliner, the same one in the BMW Individual catalog. While the dashboard has been wrapped in leather that comes with contrast stitching, the seats are covered in black/cognac Nappa leather. Meanwhile, the brand made sure to give the iDrive controller a ceramic finish. To serve as evidence that this is not your standard 640i Gran Coupe, the interior has the piano black trim that has the Exclusive Sport badge.Read the entire article BMW Japan releases limited-edition 6 Series Gran Coupe Exclusive Sport
BMW rivals have every reason to worry with the German brand’s plans to upgrade its classic series to compete with the Mercedes S-Class coupe and the Porsche 911. It has been quite some time since we last heard of the 6 Series’ power and the classic big boy lineup that is the 8 Series.
First up on its to-do list is an upgraded version of its 6 Series. Its past versions have had problems with weight and packaging so now is the time for BMW to address these issues. The primary goal for the next generation BMW 6 Series and M6 is to address these issues and to improve handling. The 6 Series will come with carbon fiber components as well as aluminium alloys, high-strength steel, magnesium and titanium accents to reduce weight.
It will also come in three variants – the coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe – and will also feature shorter overhangs and a wider track. The coupe and convertible will be smaller in size while the Gran Coupe will have a longer wheelbase to accommodate a larger interior.Read the entire article BMW steps it up a notch with 8 Series comeback, 6-Series upgrades

The first details regarding the next-generation BMW 6-Series are starting to emerge on the Web thanks to Britain’s Car Magazine. Codenamed G15, the new BMW 6-Series will become sportier, lighter and more powerful, in order to become proper rivals for the Porsche rivals.
Just like the current generation, the new 6-Series will be available in three different body styles from 2017: the 6-Series Coupe (G15), 6-Series Cabriolet (G14) and the 6-Series Gran Coupe (G16).
What’s more interesting is that for the 2017MY, the 6-Series Coupe and Cabriolet models will come down in size as BMW wants to shave around 200 kg. Following the same path as the 5-Series GT and the 3-Series GT, the BMW 6-Series GT is planned for the next-generation 6-Series and will arrive in 2016, just in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its popular model.
The new 6-Series GT will take on the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake and will have a length of about 5 meters. Mercedes-Benz introduced its CLS Shooting Brake back in 2012 and opened a new segment on the auto market.Read the entire article BMW 6-Series Gran Tourer in the works, will debut in 2016

The BMW Group is presenting a new element of BMW ActiveAssist at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 in Las Vegas. This new element is a safety assistance system which swerves back the vehicle into line even without any input from the driver. The BMW Group Research and Technology have built a research prototype with perfected control technology, allowing it to drive its way at high speeds and with exceptional precision on a slalom run between cones.
The prototype also managed to stick to a marked out circular course regardless of the friction coefficient of the road surface and could even execute an obstacle-evading lane change to perfection. The technology – which makes optimum use of the potential of both engine and chassis – allowed the prototype to follow its path safely and along almost identical lines even when provoked into oversteer.
While current control systems restore stability by braking individual wheels, BMW’s safety assistance system introduces active and precisely calculated steering inputs into the mix. The prototype also reacts to fluctuating grip levels with the precision of an expert driver. While the prototype travels along the predetermined target line, it does not attempt to maintain a preset speed under all circumstances; but constantly considers the condition of the road surface and responds as required.Read the entire article 2014 CES: BMW M235i, 6-Series GC are self-driving cars that can drift [w/video]

Starting in June, the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupé will be arriving in UK showrooms. Its price begins at £61,390. Powering the entry-level version of the four-door coupe 640i is the 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six petrol engine, producing 316bhp and 450lb ft. BMW claims that it can reach 35.8mpg figure on the combined cycle. It’s likely that the 640d would make up most of the sales.
