This BMW i8 will definitely catch the hearts of DC fans, particularly Batman fans. This is because the car has been given some pretty sick artwork.
Every time a new superhero movie comes out, there is hype that comes along with it. And if you are such a fanatic, you would want to own a car that has the same theme as the movie, wouldn't you? This BMW i8 is the perfect one for Joker fans, and the artwork gives the car an even more aggressive personality. Similarly, Kia came out with an Iron Man version of the Kona back just recently, while Jeep had once revealed a Dark Knight version of the Renegade back in 2016. Each car had its distinct personality, combining the car’s design with their unique liveries.
A few days ago, BMW revealed the Dark Knight themed i8, styled by EVE.RYN for the Super Carnival festival in Japan. The Jared Leto inspired crossover by Rene Turrek, on the other hand, is a total contrast to what we saw earlier. Joker recently came out in DC’s latest Suicide Squad film. This is not the first piece that Turrek has created. He has done a few other superhero vehicle mashups like the Ford Mustang with a Captain America livery and the Iron Man Lamborghini Aventador. Now the Joker i8 comes equipped with a 357 horsepower (266 kilowatts) 1.5 liter three cylinder hybrid engine setup with probably more power than the villain can handle.Read the entire article This Joker-themed BMW i8 is a total villain
BMW’s European delivery program is considered as one of the best ways to receive a new vehicle within the automotive business. Consumers can choose to pick up their newly bought vehicle fresh from the factory; in return, they have to plan a European road trip and drop by at the BMW's Welt operations in Germany. The German automaker powerhouse BMW has been offering this delivery program since 2007 but it didn’t have an electric vehicle on the list until now.
BWM has broadened its European Delivery Program by adding the BMW i8 to the list at the Welt, an offer that was then limited to only standard petrol units. Buyers that will be personally picking up their automobiles at Welt operations are given the one of a kind experience of waiting for the vehicle surrounded by glass walled hall, with the unit lifted up from lower levels via an elevator platforms, and while they're at it, they must check out the BMW HQ and museum. Moreover, the buyer can save around 5% off the base manufacturer's suggested retail price at the same time. But if you were hoping to get the beloved BMW i3; unfortunately, it’s not yet included in the European Delivery Program.
According to BMWBLOG, the hidden gem in BMW's purchasing process is undoubtedly the European Delivery Program. A lot of consumers don’t know that this delivery program exists. We think that if more consumers know about it, more people will patronize it. Part of the awesomeness of this program is that it allows the purchaser to get a substantial discount on the chosen vehicle and the trip to Germany and maybe other European countries just sounds so tempting. European consumers have to pay up an additional fee of €500 for this one of a kind experience, unlike American customers.Read the entire article Pick up your BMW i8 in grand style at Welt center via its European delivery program
BMW’s hybrid sports car, the i8, is guaranteed to catch everyone’s attention no matter where it is and no matter what color it may be.
First released to the market back in 2014, the brand revealed that it will be redesigning the BMW i8. Even with the possible change in the design, the combination of a compact shape, use of flowing lines, and a unique style, meant that the i8 would remain to be one of the most futuristic looking models available on the market.
One owner in particular decided to share his own version with the i8 having that unique camo wrap giving it an appearance of a spaceship mixed with a snow leopard. This feeling is heightened once the butterfly doors have been raised.Read the entire article BMW i8 looks exceptional in camo wrap design
Get outta my dreams, get into my car! By simply staring at those cars will either make you want to go gaga again for some 80s music or want to throw them out of your mind once and for all.
Garage Italia Customs is reviving the 80s with BMW’s i3 and i8 models. Why the eighties? Well, as it turns out, the design house has taken its inspirations from Memphis Design, a furniture designer based in Italy.
Any guy or gal who grew up in Milan during the 80s probably knew a thing or two about this furniture company, which by all means has a knack for making eccentric combinations.Read the entire article Garage Italia’s Shockingly colorful MemphisStyle BMW i3 and i8 are inspired by the 80s
By 2020, Audi will be throwing out not just one but three fully-electric vehicles. One of which will be pitted against the BMW i8. This new information was revealed by Rupert Stadler, Audi’s chief executive, during the recently concluded Geneva Motor Show. In an interview with Auto Express, Stadler confirms that the electric sports car will be introduced along with Audi’s upcoming SUV and new compact EV.
It is understood that the SUV will come out beforehand in spite its more complicated architecture. Stadler reiterates the growing trend for SUVs about 2 or 3 years ago which helped them arrive to this decision. “There will be a very emotional shape”, the chief executive said as he describes the SUV.
It is unclear however if the new SUV will be another Q6 but more or less, it will have some significant similarities. According to Stadler, Audi’s fully electric SUV will be using VW ID’s 168bhp electric motor with a battery range that can go between 200 and 375 miles. Afterwards, Audi will soon embark on the new sport EV. As also stated, this will follow shortly after the launch of the new electric sport utility vehicle.Read the entire article Audi aims to rival BMW i8 with new fully electric sports EV
Despite the fact that the BMW i8 continues to be among the most gorgeous-looking vehicles in the market, several tuning companies always want to have a shot at this hybrid sports car. Let’s just say, this is a car we’d love to see Bruce Wayne drive from dusk till dawn for a change.
Japanese tuner ENERGY MOTOR SPORT has recently developed a BMW i8 straight out of DC Comics. According to the company, the “Dark Knight Edition” is made in honor of the 2008 superhero thriller featuring Batman. Directed by Christopher Nolan and produced by Charles Roven and Emma Thomas, “The Dark Knight Trilogy” stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Therefore, we can expect no less from a car inspired by a movie with such a high caliber cast and crew.
Like all things with the caped superhero theme, this “Dark Knight Edition” BMW i8 wears a Batman–inspired costume. Starting from its new over fender with air ducts, to the side mirror covers, rear flipper and redesigned bumper all the way to its massive rear wing, every inch is wrapped in a matte purple color.Read the entire article BMW i8 gets Dark Knight Edition body kit from Energy Motor
Given how it has been shaped, it is not surprising that many people will imagine that the BMW i8 has somehow been brought in from the future. With that in mind, AC Schnitzer worked on making sure that this sporty coupe stands out even more.
To make this happen, the company installed a number of carbon fiber components on the i8. On the front section for example, the add-on placed on the bumper gives it a much more aggressive look. This is then enhanced by putting in mounting on the bumper’s sides while the wings that have been dipped in carbon fiber.
Since carbon fiber is a lightweight material, the company made sure to fully utilize this not only on the side skirts but also on the door handles and the mirror caps. Rounding off the carbon fiber treatment on the exterior in the rear section are the three-piece diffuser and the fixed wing.Read the entire article AC Schnitzer to present modified BMW i8 at 2017 Geneva Motor Show

How does one go about in making customers seriously consider the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports cars? You can ask BMW Abu Dhabi Motors, the exclusive importer of BMW vehicles in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.
BMW Abu Dhabi Motors simply needed to highlight the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports cars in a way that people would not forget them. This is why BMW Abu Dhabi Motors took six BMW i8s and painted each with six different custom color finishes: Austin Yellow, Lava Green, Lava Orange, Lava Red, Lava Yellow and Twilight Purple.
Lined up together at Yas Marina Circuit, these BMW i8 sextuplets splendidly created a colorful highlight, which is as vivid as their specs and their plug-in hybrid powertrain. It seemed like a rainbow in the sky fell on earth and transformed into these plug-in hybrid sports cars from BMW. Well, we love rainbows, as much as we love the BMW i8.Read the entire article BMW Abu Dhabi Motors is offering the i8 in six different custom colors
It appears that wrapping cars is a trend that is unlikely to stop anytime soon. More companies are trying out new and unique ways to implement designs. One model to have benefitted from all of this is the BMW i8.
Just in the middle of this year for example, the Japanese division of BMW came out with its own version in a color no one expected. When it was released, the i8 came with the choice of six color schemes. However the color red was not included. This has been changed with the limited edition being offered known as the “Celebration Edition”. It has the same qualities as that of the Protonic Red Limited Edition shown during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The limited edition version even has the light-alloy 470 W-spoke wheels and the Frozen Gray Metallic accents. However, only 20 units were made with each one having a badge on the interior to highlight its uniqueness and rarity.Read the entire article Singer Austin Mahone drives a ‘rusty’ BMW i8
The Rose Bay Police Station in Sydney disclosed that its squad will be joined by its newest, and likely the most exotic member, which is the BMW i8. The official turnover was conducted by BMW Sydney Dealer Principal Simon Macedone who formally handed this highly successful plug-in hybrid to Superintendent Bradley Hodder, Police Commander of Rose Bay.
This event was held in BMW Sydney at Rushcutters Bay. The i8 is expected to immediately be part of the squad and will conduct regular appearances at different community events to increase the profile of the department. Even if the i8 is indeed on loan, there is no attached cost to the taxpayer as everything is covered by BMW Sydney.
Since the i8 was conceived to be a plug-in-hybrid sports car, it had to offer agile handling and strong performance while delivering excellent efficiency. With the passenger cell composed of plastic reinforced with carbon fiber, it ensures that the weight is low while guaranteeing rigidity and safety. Its advanced eDrive system has combined power of 266 kW with peak torque of 570 Nm.Read the entire article BMW i8 becomes a police car for Sydney’s Rose Bay
While the BMW i8 is part of a market that continues to grow as it remains to welcome new models, it is safe to say that this model still has to face an actual rival.
Nicknamed by the brand as the “sports car of the future”, the i8 is a plug-in hybrid sports car and is BMW's second production model under the "i" after the i3 electric supermini.
This model is powered by a combination of the twin-turbocharged 3-cylinder 1.5-liter petrol engine and the electric motor. The petrol engine has an output of 228 hp (231 PS) with torque at 236 lb.-ft. (320 Nm) and paired with the automatic 6-speed gearbox in order to move the rear wheels. Meanwhile the electric motor delivers power at 129 hp (96 kW) and torque of 184 lb.-ft. (250 Nm). Its motor is paired to the automatic 2-stage transmission in order to drive the wheels in the front. Completing the hybrid configuration is the high-voltage lithium-ion battery (5 kWh) that comes with liquid cooling.Read the entire article Satin black HRE Wheels on BMW i8 underscore stealthy looks
During the first quarter of the year, BMW has only sold a total of 5,128 units of the i3 and i8 combined around the world. This demonstrates a sales decline of about 23% from the same period last year. For the full-year of 2015, the German carmaker sold 24,057 units of the i3 and 5,456 units of the i8.
The slump can widely be attributed to the growing competition and relatively expensive price tag. For a short mile range of about 80 miles, the i3 already has a base price of $42,400. This can be improved up to 160 miles with a two-cylinder engine for an additional $3,850.
Moreover, the BMW i3 is said to not be able to live up to its looks and environmental friendliness. Its eco-friendly eDrive setting is not even practical for today’s driving era as it offers a mile range of 22 miles and a maximum speed of 75 mph.Read the entire article BMW preparing to refresh the i3, i8 vehicles as sales go down
Toyota and BMW continue to fund and develop hydrogen fuel cell technology even as they remain on the race to build electric vehicles. Global warming has been one of the most pre-dominant issues in our society today. With a growing population and greater demand for technologies that are both cheap and efficient, companies are rushing to become the first ones to create environment friendly technologies.
Vehicles have been pinpointed as one of the main contributors of global warming and its emissions are known to have adverse effects to the O-Zone layer. Once fossil fuels like petroleum or diesel are burned to power our vehicles, carbon dioxide is emitted into the atmosphere, slowly boring a hole into our O-Zone layer that protects us from the harmful rays of the sun.
Aside from Global warming, fuel prices have also gone high as demand for more vehicles are also increasing. Moreover, increases in the number of vehicles also mean an increase for the demand in fuel. However, oil companies are now having a hard time to meet these demands so now automakers are in the process of researching alternative ways to power their vehicles.Read the entire article Fuel-cell-powered BMW i8 may soon be a reality

It's official! The BMW i8 is the best-selling hybrid sports car in the world in 2015. In fact, even if all other carmakers combine the sales of their hybrid sports cars, they wouldn't still be able to surpass the 5,456 units of the BMW i8 sold around the world last year.
BMW i8 is powered by a cutting-edge plug-in hybrid technology – a harmonious combination of a three-cylinder turbocharged engine and an electric drive system – that delivers a max system output of 266 kW/362 hp, while consuming just 2.1 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers on the combined cycle (134.5 mpg imp).
Moreover, the system emits 49 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer (combined). Ian Robertson, BMW AG Board Member for Sales and Marketing, remarked that the success of the BMW i8 "speaks for itself.” He noted that the i8 has exceeded the German premium carmaker's expectations by becoming the most successful hybrid sports car in the world.Read the entire article BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition shows up ahead of 2016 Geneva Motor Show debut
BMW Group showcased its i Vision Future Interaction Concept at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Based on the BMW i8 Concept Spyder, the Concept Car BMW i Vision Future Interaction will be used to show visitors one of the possible layouts of future user interface. For instance, the Vision Car employs high-resolution vehicle displays in which the content aptly responds to the situation.
Likewise, all functions can be controlled through voice, gestures or touch surfaces – thereby rendering human-to-vehicle interaction as intuitive as possible. While the Vision Car features an interior compartment so focused that it could fully support the driver while driving manually, it also allows the pilot to relax on its well-designed seats during a highly automated mode. Likewise, drivers – during auto mode – can also access the expanded content shown on the central information display.
Interestingly, the digital content will be optimally present according to the adjustments made by the vehicle to the drive mode and the surrounding environment. Before commencing a trip, a driver could check pertinent information like charge status using their smart phone, smart watch or Mobility Mirror. These are then transferred seamlessly to the appropriate menus, map displays and driver information on the panorama display in the BMW i Vision Future Interaction.Read the entire article BMW brings i Vision Future Interaction Concept to CES 2016
For this year, BMW has increased the number of i8 plug-in hybrids produced for the United States by 50 percent or more than 1,000 cars, but that won’t still be enough to cover all orders for the $137,450 vehicle.
According to Ludwig Willisch, chief executive of BMW of North America, the i8 has become the carmaker’s halo car and has been attracting customers to the brand. He called the sports car as “a brand shaper" as it "stands for all of the technology BMW has to offer” and features a 72-mpg mileage.
To hike output of the i8, BMW said it will build fewer i3 electric vehicles this year. Both cars would not be delivered to US customers until October. BMW started selling the i3 last spring and i8 sales in August 2014.Read the entire article BMW increases i8 supply for the United States by 50%
It appears that charging cables for electric or plug-in hybrid cars will soon disappear and BMW knows this fact very well. As a result, the Bavarian manufacturer is planning to offer charging cables as an option and at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) it showed everyone how the wireless charging technology works on the i8 hybrid sports car.
Using a magnetic field that transmits electricity between a base pad located on the floor and a coil found on the underside of the vehicle, cables are no longer needed and you can simply park your vehicle and watch how the charging level of the battery increases on your smartphone app.
Back in July 2014, BMW and Daimler announced their partnership on wireless charging, which means that wireless charging is definitely very close. Regarding the BMW i8 shown at CES, the battery can be fully charged in just two hours, which is about the same time as using a normal cable.Read the entire article 2015 CES: BMW i8 demonstrates how inductive charging works in Las Vegas
The BMW i8 is probably the most futuristic plug-in hybrid sports car available on the market and it appears that many people sees it this way as the German coupe sees high demand. In order to reduce waiting time, which is currently 18 months, BMW sales and marketing chief Ian Robertson said that the carmaker may have to increase production.
The BMW i8 is produced at company’s factory in Leipzig Germany and it appears that the manufacturer didn’t expect to see the i8 becoming too popular and planned the vehicle as a low-volume model. BMW managed to deliver 760 i8 sports cars this year and the Bavarian manufacturer is expected to increase production to 4,318 units next year.
For those who don’t know, the BMW i8 is powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine that generates 231 hp (170 kW) and 320 Nm of torque, which powers the rear wheels. In addition, the i8 is fitted with an electric motor that produces 131 hp (96 kW) and 250 Nm of torque that powers the front wheels.Read the entire article BMW will increase i8 production to reduce waiting time of up to 18 months
